I know that skimmed milk obviously contains less fat but have also read that soya milk can lower Cholesterol. Anyone know which is healthier?

Nisa, had a glass of soya milk with some honey in it this morning. Tastes yum!

Think I'll go with both then. Rice milk sounds interesting as well - may give that a try.

I go with soy. I use only organic vanilla soy milk. Hormone, pesticide, and other junk free. I red too much, as I don't always recall where I read something. however, I did recently read that the estrogen in soy milk, negetively working with or against women's estrogen is controversial, as the chemicals in the soy milk are different than the chemicals in women's estrogen. It's something to think about, but please, don't quote me on that, as I don't remember where I read it.

Also, I saw a news trailer on the Detroit ABC affiliate news the other morning that the Diary Council's "Drink milk. Lose weight." ads have been pulled as there was really no basis to the claim. Personally, I lost no more than five pounds after I eliminated dairy and eggs. (The same thing after I totally cut out meat and it was out of my system.) Yet, the other day, I still saw a commercial for a specific brand of yogurt that basically said eat our yogurt and lose weight. Ugh.

I suppose a search on soy milk nutrition, soy controversy, estrogen in soy, etc. could yeild some good results.

Well soya milk contains B vitamins and is high in protein too I have also read that it helps reduce the risk of heart disease and kidney disease and also cancers such as breast cancer and prostate cancer. It does help lower bad colesterol and is a healthy option than skimmed milk. I myself use Soya milk as a healthier option alot of the time.

Drink both. Soya milk does not have a lot of calciums. I drink both of them, but since my stomache is not digesting very well, I drink soya milk. Put honey in soya milk and drink, it tastes really good.

No, you will gain weight. One of the best weighs to gain weight is to drink obscene amounts of milk. ( I can gain 10 - 15 pounds in a week, just by drinking an additional gallon of skim milk daily). Honestly 24 hours of just not eating anything won't do much difference. And fasting is just stupid and dangerous, try the Zone diet, it is arguably the most effect diet out their.

Soya is healthy, but most contain lots of sugar, so skimmed milk will, have many fewer calories.

To be honest they are so close that you would be having to drink vast quantities of milk to notice the difference. I would go for the one you like the taste of the most or re-evaluate the amount of milk you are digesting in a day.

soya milk has much more calories than skimmed. and soya products can cause alergy which makes your face look like pizza:) my friend tried to use soya instead of meat and milk products but all she got was ugly face skin:)

The best milk is rice milk. soy milk is rather dodgy because most of it is from Genetically Modified plants, and milk is something you shouldn't drink anyway.
