Eat iron-rich foods like spinach, kale, beans, nuts, whole grains, dried fruit, etc. Eating them along with a good source of vitamin C helps your body absorb the iron. Here's some info on iron and veganism.

I have always had low iron levels, before I became a vegetarian and now. Start eating foods that are high in iron, like beans, or even fortified cereals. I take a blackstrap molasses pill every day as an iron supplement. You will probably have to look in a natural foods store for them or order them online. Also, vitamin C helps the body absorb iron, so orange juice fortified with iron is also a good choice. My doctor has never recommended my going back to eating meat. Although he is not a vegetarian, he encourages me and says it is a healthy way of eating. If you are serious about vegetarianism and do a little research, you will be able get all of your nutrients from wholesome plant-based foods. Ask your doctor. If you are very anemic, he may want to prescribe something for you, or will at least be able to give you sound advice.

I have never struggled with being anemic. I have been vegetarian since 1990 and vegan since 2005. Never had issues. It requires eating lots of differerent colors. Keep up what you do, Kale is REALLY really good for you! Might we worth talking to a neutritionist to see how you could adjust your diet so you don't become anemic.

I agree with Tracey and Flamekat. If the one poster didn't do well and she was anemic, number 1, she might have been anemic as an omnivore as well, and, number 2, it wasn't the vegetarianism to blame; it was her own diet and lack of proper nutrition. The nutrients are there in plant-based food. It's up to you whether you consume them or not.

This is not good at all.
I tried being a vegetarian (I am anemic too) and it didn't work out.
I had to go back to omnivore status. Even just eating eggs and dairy wasn't enough; I need whole proteins only available from fish or meat for my blood to work properly.
Supplements are not sufficient, and they lose even marginal effectiveness over time. Find some way to come to terms with the fact that life on earth means something else has to die; even the plants that vegans eat were living when harvested.

what's your doctor say about this?
also, I'm not sure how eggs will help.
Usually iron will help build red blood cells, try increasing your iron consumption.
