Cholesterol levels are affected by a mixture of diet and inheritance. It is not a bad idea to think about your level, (but not worry about it!) even when young.

Have a chat with the practice nurse and arrange a test. If it is normal you can then relax. If it is elevated it would be reasonable to look at lifestyle issues.

I had HIGH CHOLESTEROL, once I was told started on a low fat diet, struggled but the figures dropped and are now almost normal. However I developed 'xanthoma' over my left eye and eventually it was causing the eye lid to close, so off to have it removed. The Doc said after he removed it 'You cholesterol was never THAT high for this to form' so sent it away for testing just to be safe. It was a Xanthoma and not cancer. My Mothers Cholesterol was 12 and she had no triple heart anything, just got on my diet and that was it.

Have you had your cholestrol checked and been told your a bit high? My mother had a double by pass and I have had mine done. Though mine isn't as high as hers my doc places me on meds to prevent mine from going as high. I understand your fear it's scary, please tell your doc how you feel it's better to know than to keep wondering and do something about it.

as I said, cholesterol is measured in the hundreds, no single digits.
As for your nan, cholesterol is not the only cause of heart disease.
