I have to confess that the zealous pious Christians who rigidly adhere to what basically is ink on paper, frighten me, it makes the world a bit scary when I think of all the robotic, indoctrinated individuals roaming this earth spouting judgmental crap. We need a little more love in the world, I look at these Christians as flowers that never bloom, we will never know the beauty they may have graced the world with if they had ever blossomed into their own unique individual, to me they seem stunted because all they do is follow in their parents footsteps, it seems a terrible shame and waste

I am most definitely not a christian, I am a witch and a Pagan Priest, I have no problems with the theories of evolution although I see the so called scientific ones as a bit limited. I sympathise with you my friend regarding passages from the bible being quoted as some kind of justification or point in a debate, it is meaningless drivel when used that way. However I have to say that your accusations of gullibility thrown towards those who seek spiritual experience is pure narrowmindedness and limited. You seek to convince others that they are wrong or gullible but you fear to face your own shadow and hide behind science as if it could be the only possible truth. Your logic is indeed perverse, nothing can be true unless you have tried to disprove it over and over again, and you seem to believe this so passionately that you evangelicalise and attack the experience of others if it refuses to fit into your theoretical structures. It is true, I don't doubt that many christians and many scientists are seeking truth, however it seems those christians you so despise and insult are behaving in a way that completely mirrors how you come over to other people.
Blessed Be.

No, because it provides more information for all of us. Also, if you didn't want to hear it, then why ask?
You've got to ask yourself why so many people have lived and died for this belief in God and religion. Why have they done this for so long? What gives them this conviction. Why has Christianity survived so long if it was all false?
There are many other sources people can use to cite, like books written by early Christians, and I'm sure there are many books written by ex atheists as well. It'll just take me a little time to research.
If I was not to use any books though, the bible, I would say the reason and proof I use to prove what I believe is the feeling of awe that rushes through me when I look at His beauty everywhere. (in the kindness of other people, a beautiful beach sunset, a baby, a blooming rose, and especially when Jesus becomes truly present in the Eucharist during the consecration).
Maybe you should ask an ex-atheist why they crossed into belief. They can probably relate to you better.

The truth is that any of the theories purported by Man about creation either religious or scientific would be taken with a pinch of salt. The thing in religion is that we as humans exist and are spiritual people and that has to come from somewhere. The most spiritual people have highest conscienceness that allows them to see above the material world and beyond the limits of science and thats what is interested aswell as the fact that in life people turn towards god rather than science in many situations.

I am a Christian And I am also a follower of science. I think the two can go hand in hand. I won't go spitting out Bible verses to you because I have found that that generally doesn't win people over but the way I live my life does(BTW)..
there is a lot of evidence for evolution you are correct. there is also evidence of a creator as well............ ( there are some things that don't fully fit into evolution)
It is being to be able to keep an open mind about both things...

Now where is you knowledge, In some Doctor of divintity book, By the way I am 57 yrs old, went throught high scholl, You know those high schools back in the 1950's & 1960's where we could study God or athesistism, But i choose God, & by the way, I have been a Christian for 37 yrs. I do think I know a little more then you. So where does that put you, I know hanging onto an athiset ideal & about ready to let of of the rope,

From a 38 yr old guy who walked as an atheist for 30+ yrs, give you a simple tip and I'll let you go off digging on your own.
Study up on how they measure the distance from here to a star. Not just read it, but study it, understand how geometry is used and how geometry works. The answer should start to come clear who is hiding something right before your very eyes.
I can prove creation using science facts that are stated today and that anyone can easily understand. But few care to listen, they would just rather call names and do put downs. Just as you have in your statement, instead of being calm, rational and speaking like an educated person, you call us gullible, etc. I think you are gullible but I don't say it as we are all gullible at one time or another to something or another cause none of us can ever know everything. So everyone, of any faith or non faith needs to get off their high horse and sit and learn, as life is a classroom. Just cause we are not in school doesn't mean we stop learning.
You wouldn't see this type of action in a classroom, so why do we see it in life? People put down those who spend a life time doing studies on either side of the picture but they will 100% accept what some person standing in a classroom making 31k a year and has no clue says. Odd isn't it how the human mind works.

Was a card carrying atheist until age 13. Jesus and the Easter bunny were on the same page in my book. Then an ephemeral intelligence of pristine purity choose to visit me in a dream and my intellectual conceit was undone.
If you ask how intellectual could a 13yr old be you must not be a Libra with two Geminis for parents.
As long as you pay your sales taxes and don't burn any churches you may exist in my world fellow traveler. True dragons do not concern themselves with linear and circuitous logic, we think in terms of the infinite perspective from a geometric mind. If you really want to play with the minds of right wing reactionaries who call themselves followers of the way read Sitchin's Earth Chronicle series, if you can handle it . They shut up when you know their history better than they do.

How about this -
Creation is correct, in the sense that God started the process out of nothing, and is the primary mover of it. The theory of evolution is also correct, because that's how God decided to work when he created.
Not all Christians are Bible-thumpers, and that would include me. Science is merely the study of how things work due to God. Theology is the study of why God works the way He does. The two are not incompatible.
OK - I won't quote you anything out of the Bible - I know that seems to set some people off, even though it shouldn't LOL The truth is that there is nothing in the Bible that really contradicts modern science - show me something that appears to, and I'll explain it in terms of how it squares with modern science. The Bible was never meant to be a science text though, it's a collection of ancient God-inspired writings that delve into man's relationship with God. It sometimes uses poetic and allegorical language and metaphors to make it's point, and is not meant to be taken entirely literally, although when considered in it's entirety, is essentially true in matters of theology and morality. It was never meant to be a science text or an exact historical timeline accounting.
