Yes! Boiling water will sanitize . Most bacteria will be destroyed when boiled. That's why they use to boil surgical instruments to kill the germs before surgery. Now they use new instruments each time.

No, it's not true. Most of the germs will die, but there are some that will survive. Not all germs are harmful. There are living things that are known to thrive in extremely hot temperature.
The best way to kill germs is to use UV or gamma irradiation which will screw up their DNA, which will kill them. Most hospitals use this kind of method, along with autoclaving (heating up to 250 degree F for at least 10 minutes).

yes. say your pumping station in your town goes down, and you lose water pressure. they send out warnings to boil your water first. as once water boils, it has hit a temperature that bacteria can't survive in, in turn making the water sterile for consumption.
you can also do this through evaporation to clean water and to de-salt sea water. put a pan of bad water in the sun, put a piece of metal or material over it on an angle and a cup/bowl at the bottom of that angle. as the sun heats the water, it evaporates, bacteria don't float away as only the water molecules do. they are then caught on the angled item as water vapor and then roll downhill into the cup/bowl.
