If No: What are we missing, specifically?

If Yes: Does that not prove that belief in a "higher power" is pointless?

I am an atheist myself and although im still a teen i do not feel like there is anything missing in my life-apart from a boyfriend..lol-so, yes, i believe an atheist can live a good, meanigful and fulfilling life without belief unless they go out of their way to cause triuble, like burning down churches and preaching about how rubish religion is on street corners. If they do not try and get involved with other people's ideas they have the right to a perfectly good life. People have their own rights to believe in anything they please as long as they don't go ramming it down other peoples throats to try and get them to join the bandwagon.Yes, i think that proves that belief in a higher god is pointless, because if god is supposed to be everywhere, then what about all the little straving kids in africa and all the carnage in Iraq? Where was he for Maddy when she was taken from her parents on holiday? Why is there so much poverty in the world? If an atheist can live well and not be punished for not believing, then there is no point in HAVING the belief in the first place

No offence to any religious followers who read this, becasue as i said everyone has their own rights to believe and im only answering the question!!

"Is faith useless?"
There is no one who could operate normally without it.

"Can an atheist live a good, meaningful, fulfilling life without any belief in the god(s)? "
Sure. God doesn't want everybody, and so he doesn't take the effort to get them to turn around. God had always been that way, where he only picks a small amount of people out of a group. This can be demonstrated in the Hebrews of the Old Testament and New Testament, and the Gentiles in the Old and New Testament. Most people miss this because they do not pay attention to what is being said; what is really going on in those stories.

"If Yes: Does that not prove that belief in a "higher power" is pointless?"
Yes. Pointless for those who really don't care to spend so much time on it. As a Christian, I see that those who have no interest in knowing God, spend so much time on the subject because they are unwittingly marching to the order of the devil. And they, as I said, are completely unaware of it.

Faith is not useless. It is the foundation on which all things are made possible.
Anyone can live a "good life" Is it meaningful probably to them. Is it fulfilling they are satisfied. They are living for today with no care of their eternal life. They see the small picture of right now without any thought of the big picture as it were. What they are missing is a sense of being connected to the creator and having fellowship with Him by accepting His gift of Salvation through the blood of His Son Jesus Christ. They are depriving themselves of the wonder of God's love for them. Because they deny God He will deny them. They are creating their eternal destiny in hell.

Yes. Atheists enjoy quite a meaningful and fulfilling life without believing in any Deity. For them the belief in a "higher power" is pointless.

However, for those of us who have a religious belief in a "higher power", life is good, meaningful, and fulfilling, because of our Deities.

You know I just saw on 20/20 an atheist family. I've never known an atheist and I do not understand that you would not have a higher power.
I saw this darling teenage girl crying from her heart that she was so discriminated in school. I saw her father trying to comfort her and he seemed to have more compassion for the discriminators in their stupidity actions. He was trying to explain his beliefs in such a kind demeanor of char actor.
So how do you explain this hurt in your heart, the love, the forgiveness, the compassion?
I being a Christian know where I came from. And I have faith of promises of an everlasting life even after this spiritual war comes to an end.
I'm not being sarcastic.....really what is your faith. Is it minute to minute.

Matthew 16:26[kjv]For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

one day those who put there hope in JESUS will be rewarded.Nope faith isnt useless. It will have its reward in due time.

John 3:16[kjv] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

so when we believe in JESUS we have eternal life.JESUS lived a sinless life and gave up his life as a sacrifice so we can be sin free. Ask JESUS to come into your heart and forgive ur sins and cleanse ur past with his blood.

With a simple prayer like above u can be saved.JESUS loves u and wants u to be saved.

Is faith useless? No.

If you do not have faith then your assessment of meaningful, fulfilling etc is purely subjective.

If you have faith, then by default God becomes a part of your life and adds objective meaning to your life. You were created for a specific purpose that no one else can achieve. If you do not achieve it - no one will.

Cheers :-)

well, what makes an atheist's life meaningful, full-filling and good, without believing in a God, is that we or at least I, believe in myself, and see no reason why I need to believe in the existence of a loving, superhuman fatherly figure in order to be happy. As long as I have faith in myself, and believe that everything occurs inside my brain and that if I think positive of myself and life, through my own reasoning and understanding of my body and my surroundings; God, is pointless.

nicely i'm in no way depressed, or have a lacking void. rather i'm greater relaxed with existence than I unquestionably have ever been. i'm not afraid if I make a mistake that a guy in clouds will deliver me to a huge furnace for all eternity. I unquestionably have freedom of speech and theory, and movements. My purpose in existence has replaced from a egocentric way of serving God to greater ideal my probabilities of attending to heaven, to being concerned greater related to the folk in this international, and the animals and enviroment. i will cost this existence lots greater, because of the fact i realize it ought to o.k. be the only one I unquestionably have. I stay for THIS 2d, not what i think of ought to ensue once I die.

You asked four questions.
Is faith useless?
Yes, except to those who have the need for the crutch it provides.
Can an atheist ...?
Of course!
If No, What are we missing?
It isn't 'No'.
If Yes ...
There is no higher power. All gods are man-made inventions. Isn't that really easy to understand?
