Learjet 60 is great. It has enough fuel capacity to go from LA to Hawaii, if you don't take too much stuff. It goes up to 535 nautical miles per hour.

How far will you be traveling? I work for a company that manages a fleet of jets. If you are going to go from New York to Florida you might try a Beechjet 400A. With four people you're just at the edge of it's range. With a cabin that seats seven, you'll be relatively comfortable. If you wanted more room you could upgrade to a Hawker 800XP. At this point you'll have even more space to move around and you won't have to worry about stopping for fuel. If you wanted to get there as fast as possible, you could climb on board the Citation X business jet. It cruises close to the speed of sound. (Mach .92) You can cut over 30 minutes off your travel time from the Hawker to the "X".
Anyway, those are three of your choices and you have so many more aircraft to choose from. A few other things you might have to take into consideration though....
How long is the runway at your point of departure and on the arrival at the other end?
What is the elevation of the airports you are traveling to and from?
How much "stuff" (skis, golf bags, etc.) do you need to take along with you?
What's the weather like at the airports you're traveling to and from.
And the list goes on.....

There are a number of Very Light Jets or VLJ's coming on the market at this time. Two of the least expensive (as jets go) are the twin engine Eclipse (approx $1.6 million), or the single engine Diamond Jet. Both are small aircraft made for four to six people and are certified for single pilot operation. The new Cessna Mustang already mentioned is my first choice as far as light jets go; very fast, reasonable size cabin and very simple cockpit resources management. It is also considerably more expensive than either the Diamond Jet or the Eclipse (app. $2.6m)

Even when I read my own submissions, I come across sounding like a tool. My response to this question is not likely to change that.
There are a number of ways to disect that question.
From a fuel usage, emissions standpoint, a Cessna Citation is up there. The Cessna line includes the slowest and fastest of current production jets.
From the standpoint of cost efficiency, chartering would be the way to go. You'll end up on whatever hunk of aluminum the charter agency decides you can afford; a PA-31T, King Air or an ancient 20 or 30 series Learjet.
You'll spend less money, do less environmental damage, and consume less oil shipping your pax 1st class on Lufthansa.
And, if you're looking for just a personal opinion, I r-e-a-l-l-y like the Lear 45; has to be one of the best rides of my life.

If you're only looking to hold 4 peiple, not including the pilot and copilot, a Citation Mustang is the best bet, in terms of VLJ and if you have somewhat of a "budget" (The Mustang costs just south of 2 million). If money is no issue, look to the Cessna Citation X, the fastest civilian aircraft currently flying.

This is almost a pure Ford or Chevrolet question. Since you buy a jet mostly for the speed, I'd think the Citation X would be in the top 5 choices.

Your question is fairly vague, but if money isn't an issue, a Gulfstream 550 would rank pretty high on the list. It has a range of over 6500 miles, speeds up to around mach .88, and an altitude limit up to about 51,000 feet. It's an awesome a/c, but it will cost you big $$$.

IMHO, Fokker (formerly Beech) 400. It does seat 7 + 2 in the front office. We have 3. Awesome birds.
