Why is college tuition going up?

is there anything us youth can do to stop this before our children have no option but to skip out on higher education because it is too much money. Scholarships are alot harder to get than people think. If you are just a normal student, you will not get a scholarship... what can we do?

The number one reason for rising tuitions is the continued underfunding of state-supported universities by states. The percentage of total costs of college covered by state support has dropped DRAMATICALLY over the last 15 years.

Start out at community college., then transfer to a four year university. Live at home for the first two years, or for the entire four years, if necessary. Choose state schools based on their costs, not only on academic reputation.
Choose inexpensive private schools like Flagler, York College of PA, Muskingum, Grove City, or Berea College in Kentucky.

If you are so inclined, join the military and use the Montgomery GI bill to pay for some of your college.

It is because the cost of several things going up. First, it is the health insurance benefit keeps rising. Second, the cost of gasoline for university vehicles such as the bus service or the university security force keeps rising. Third, the cost of food for feeding students. Finally, it is the cost of wages for the professors and instructors increase, and without these increases, it would be hard to attract and retain excellent teachers for your courses. I know it sounds basic. There could probably be some ways to lower some of these costs by the universities pooling together for a better rate on health insurance. Also, the government tends to underfund programs which can create problems, too. If we look at the European model, they pay a lot more in taxes than in the United States (for example, Canada has a sales tax of 17%).
