Please, please take your son to a dermatologist. If he has acne on his back and chest in addition to his face, then his acne is indeed quite severe and he is at very high risk for permanent scarring. The doctor will be able to prescribe antibiotics to help clear them, or possibly even Accutane, the most effective medication available. I don't think any over-the-counter products will be able to help him. as these are designed for the mildest of acne, and his is far beyond that.
Don't waste any more time or money on them --- he needs medical care ASAP.

For people with cystic acne, all of the washing and scrubbing in the world won't help - in fact, it might aggravate it. This is a hormonal problem and he needs care. Even without picking at them, cystic acne will still leave scars, as the infection is very deep in the dermal layers.

It seems to me like he's been picking his pimples or/and irritating his skin. Tell him to stop, or he will have severe scars. It is normal to bleed if he pops them, either by accident or by purposely rubbing his face. Only whiteheads should be popped, they can be squeezed with clean cotton swabs. You can go to a dermatologist and get him some help, acne often causes depression and low self esteem issues that can really make ur son unhappy.

Take him to a Walmart and look in the beauty section. With Loofahs and body scrubs they have a body glove that you put on to bathe.

My husband uses one to eliminate blackheads on the back of his neck and face. You just pull it on to scrub your face and entire body with it.

When you keep the pores clean and open the junk will not build up in them. At night have him put on Neosporin all over his face to keep it soft and help heal the problem.

All of this can be improved for less than ten dollars and dilligence. In one week it will be much better if he does this every night before bed.

He MUST stop the picking as the scars (if bad enough) can last a lifetime.

Good Luck.

Make green tea wait to cool down then apply to the skin. It will calm down the irritation. Also you can use the Calendula herb flowers.
