It is up to the individual. What is heinously irresponsible is to represent belief as if it is fact, and this is what many of these pastors do.

As long as you can remember.... so are we talking 20, 30, 40 years here. Or are you referring to as far back as history suggests? The bible often talks about a day for a year so what might seem years to you is just a short time to God.
Either way if you read the bible Jesus said there would be signs....probably the ones the pastor talks about. If they match up with conditions today then you have to decide if he is misinterpreting or not.
Losing faith is common if you don't feel that we really are seeing the signs talked about. If you truly think we are then the 'end of the world' as it is called could happen today, tomorrow or in the near future. We don't know when but we should always be ready.

2 Peter 3:9[kjv]The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Its good when someone learns the truth. But we should also go in search for the lost and tell them the truth and show them the saviour too.we should not lose faith.Thats what the man did in the below verses. He went for the lost sheep and found it.
Matthew 18:12How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?
13And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray.
[verses taken from kjv]
Matthew 24:36[kjv]But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
Nobody knows when rapture can occur while u are reading this or it may occur in another 10 years or we may even die before it occurs. So no one knows but lets be always ready. What if it occurs at a moment that we lose our faith???.Lets hold unto our hope with patience.
John 3:16[kjv] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
so when we believe in JESUS we have eternal life.JESUS lived a sinless life and gave up his life as a sacrifice so we can be sin free. Ask JESUS to come into your heart and forgive ur sins and cleanse ur past with his blood.
With a simple prayer like above u can be saved.JESUS loves u and wants u to be saved.

Of course it is irresponsible, but no more so than a person blindly believing whatever some moron tells them. Put your faith in yourself, in your ability to reason, in your ability to see through the bullsh*t. Don't believe everything someone says just because he is in a position of leadership. I'll bet he preaches that the end is near while at the same time he has his hand in the pockets of all his parishoners. Good Luck

I've had this conversation with my uncle who is an end of times preacher, or what I tend to refer to as a doom and gloom preacher. He says he keeps meticulous track of all the signs and people can judge themselves (on his website) and that preaching any part of the bible is valid.
In that, I guess he has a point as in any religious belief the pastor (or top religious person) has the right to preach anything so taught by the religion. I guess it comes up to the individual to say yes I believe or this is a load of garbage. Myself, I don't believe it at all.

Look at all the arguements about Pre/Mid/Post Millenialism. It's all crud. The rapture occurs in an individual. Revelation is addressing the passing of an old life, and beginning of a new one, in Christ. I deeply regret much of my life before I asked for forgiveness. That is the tribualtion I live with.
If you see the end coming, run for the hills. Don't stop to argue or preach.

Primarily Protestant Ministers use the "End of Days" to instill fear in the people and then provide a cure for the fear that they have installed. They know that the followers have bad memories and easily forget that in previous times they have prophesied the same thing and proved themselves to be false prophets. The Billy Grahams and the Pat Robertsons did it in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and so on. They collect a lot of money doing it. During Biblical times there were prophets on every corner predicting the 'end of days' and just follow me and I will save you from it.

What one should ask is why Jesus was wrong:
Mark 9:1 - Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.
Matthew 16:28 - Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
Luke 9:27 - But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.
It is irresponsible to say the last days are here since those last days were, at least according to Jesus, over 2000 years ago. There's something wrong here.

i guess if he really thinks the end is nigh, then he should feel free to say it and warn people.
however, i would say it is far more likely he is mad. someone so easily swayed to such a ridiculous belief is not someone you should allow yourself to be lead by.
also, if people are coming to Christ just because they think it's the end of the world... then perhaps they are coming for the wrong reasons anyway. though it's true that the exposure of one untruth does call into question everything else about the faith that he would also have been preaching.
he should probably be trying to lead them and convince them using acceptance, love and altruistic guidance, rather than through the threat of impending doom.
oh well. i'm not much for religion anyway.

Everything about the end times is in the book of Revelations. I mean, der...thats what the word Revelation *means*...to "reveal". And God spoke, "I have foretold you all things". He also told us not to listens to man, to not preach on the street corners like the heathens, etc. You go to your closet (room) and pray and read the true signs and the true meanings will come to you as God wants them known to you. Its all right there in black and white. Read it. It might freak you out....it does me.
