Well, it's really hard to believe something exists if people have never seen, felt ,and experienced it before.

We are not bad people...
We just want to know the truth...

We all know the Bible is amazing but yet it has it own flaws which no one can explain.

I never ask for proof. I understand it's a matter of faith and I respect that.

I don't believe in god because it is simply irrational to me. The entire notion, all of it. Not one bit rings true, and not just that which can be found in a dogmatic religion. There mere notion of a god seems preposterous.

And I have tried. Not to *make* myself believe, because that would be intellectual dishonesty, but to see the possibilities. To open my mind to it. In the end, it all seems like just a tool of man to control the masses, out of our fear of death and fear of the unknown. My atheism is made stronger by all that I read and hear and see, here on R&S, in the Bible, the Qu'ran, the world around me.

I've been asking questions since I was 7... and was calling myself atheist at 14. I'm 34 now and will be an atheist when I die.

Hope that helps :)

I don't believe in God but I believe that there is something out there looking out for me. I regularly speak to my "watchers" and ask for guidance from them. I've had enough bad experiences with religious people who try to manipulate the written word to support some ridiculous notion that they are the way and the ONLY way and because of that, I choose to believe in my watchers rather than God. I have been told too many contradicting stories to believe that there is only one God but I see no harm in anyone following their own beliefs - provided they are not trying to force it on others. Those who don't believe in God may still believe in something, so at the end of the day each person with their own belief is that little bit stronger for having some sort of faith (in my opinion).

Gelfling, if you're gonna quote scripture out of the Bible; you'd better use it in context! The scriptures that you're making reference to have to with the Mosaic Law which was given to the Hebrew people when they were being led to their promised land. Those scriptures deal with what is defined as a crime and how crime should be punished. Those commands on crime and punishment were for the Hebrews during that time for that purpose. You're the one being ignorant here.

Iblis_666, You're telling a fraction of the story. God does love everyone; he calls all those who sin to repent (everyone sins!), God offers a way for people to be forgiven and to be saved from death and eternity in hell, and the lake of fire. That way is knowing Jesus Christ.

I don't believe in God because I see no reason to believe that such an entity exists. There is no evidence for it, so I do not accept the hypothesis that such an entity exists.

Nor do I believe in Thor, Ra, Enkili, Amateratsu, Queztlcoatl, the Flying Spaghetti Monster, Cthulhu, Zeus, or Dagon. Again, there's no evidence that any of them exist, so why should I believe they exist?

Even if there were evidence that such an entity existed, I also do not see any reason why I should worship such a being, nor tithe a portion of my income so that his 'earthly representatives' can build themselves a golden palace from which to condemn other people for living their lives as they choose.

Nobody can prove any gods, much less a specific god, exist; many people will tell you their god exists but no others, but will never be able to prove it, even if they think so. Some will threaten you with eternal pain or promise eternal joy to get you to believe in their god; these are all stories, created for people who were scared long before we understood the universe. Now we have no more reason for these superstitions.

because people have all of thier own beliefs and dont shove it down people's throats. and i have my own reasons for not believing. i accept people who believe in god but most people when they find out that i dont they immediately cringe at turn away so why should i believe and if he did exist then why did he make the holocaust? why is he killing everyone if africa from aids? why did he make aids? why did he make disease? why did he make people kill each other or have animals killed for their fur? why did he kill my parents? why did he make hate? why did he make everything that is wrong with the world? why did he have young kids raped, murdered and tortured? basically everything that the person above mentioned. so talk to your god and get the answers, then message me and answer all of these question for me then i might believe

I don't believe in the Christian god because I studied the bible. It contradicted reality and more importantly, contradicted itself. Not just in a few places, but hundreds.

I don't believe in any god because I see no evidence of one. For a while after coming out of Christianity, I was a Deist, which means generally that god wound up the universe, like a clock, and then walked away. Eventually all those explanations for why we have a god, stopped making sense to me too. Things like:

Everything needs a creator (then who created god?)
Look at design in nature (with a better understanding of evolution and natural processes, this no longer made sense. In addition, looking at poor design and oddities and cruelties in nature blew this for me)

Hope that helped.

Empirical knowledge. I tried to believe and led the christian lifestyle for 15 years. At the end of that I found that god did not exist. How could I believe otherwise with the lack of evidence I had collected ?

Do you honestly think a being that says the only punishment for any crime (Even believing in the wrong religion is a crime in this God's eyes) deserves eternal torture in a lake of fire!
But this God is ALL loving!

Does this really seem realistic?

Can anything really be this evil?
