Whether being a Sunday Christian is good enough?

Can Christians say beyond a doubt that they know that God views some sins as less important than others, and thus Christians have nothing to worry about how holidays began, how one dresses, or how much time one actively performs Christian tasks?

I have been studying and researching all the belief systems of the world incl. atheism, non-christian, evolutionism and so-called "christian" religions for over 25 years.

the conclusion I have come to is that most (not all) religions are hypocritical. But even more important to recognize is that *all* belief systems are imperfect and subject to mistakes. So whatever organization you choose will naturally be mistake-prone and imperfect.

but if you want to put faith in the teachings of Christ (and this is where I am at in my journey), then you should look for some important features when looking for the fellowship of true Christians:

being a true Christian is to follow the example of Christ (1 Peter 2:21; John 13:15; 1 John 2:6) including all the things he taught his Apostles to write for our instruction (2 Timothy 3:16)

Yhshua/Jesus warned that there would be many false christians, claiming to believe in him yet not doing the will of his Father. And that there would only be a few *true* Christians doing the will of his Almighty Father YHWH/Jehovah (see Matthew 7:13-23)

So what did Christ do that every Christian must do in order to be a *true* Christian?

1. Every true Christian must pray to and serve "the only true God" (see John 17:3) the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (see Acts 3:13) whose name is YHWH/Jehovah
see also;
Matthew 22:37/Deuteronomy 6:5
Matthew 14:23
Mark 1:35
Mark 6:46
Mark 14:32
Luke 6:12
Matthew 6:9
John 20:17
John 17:1-5
John 5:19
John 14:28
Mark 10:18
Matthew 26:39
John 8:17-18
Mark 13:32
Matthew 20:23
Matthew 3:17

2. Every true Christian must love everyone (see Matthew 22:39; Mark 12:31) and never harm or kill another human being
see also;
Matthew 5:44-48
Matthew 26:52
Luke 6:27
Luke 10:27
John 13:34, 35
John 15:17
1 Peter 2:23
1 Peter 3:9
Romans 12:17
Romans 13:10
2 Timothy 2:24
1 Corinthians 16:14
1 John 3:9-15
1 John 4:20

3. Every true Christian must continually preach YHWH's Kingdom which He has appointed His only-begotten Son Yhshua to rule over
see;
Matthew 24:14
Luke 4:43
Luke 10:1-3
Acts 5:42
Acts 8:4
Acts 20:20
1 Corinthians 9:16
Romans 10:15
2 Timothy 4:2-5
Matthew 4:23a
Matthew 9:35a
Luke 9:6a
1 Peter 2:21

4. Every true Christian must be "no part of the world" of human kingdoms/governments/politics
see;
John 18:36
Daniel 2:44
Luke 4:5-8
James 4:4
John 15:19
John 17:14
Acts 5:29
1 John 2:15
Romans 12:2
John 14:30
2 Corinthians 4:4
Ephesians 2:2
1 John 5:19

5. Yhshua said that many false christians would be identified because they would not be doing the will of YHWH (Matthew 7:21)
So every true Christian must be careful not to mix traditions, rituals and festivals originally designed for false pagan Roman gods into our worship of the only true God.
See (and note that everywhere it says LORD is where Christ‘s Father‘s name YHWH/Jehovah used to be);
Deuteronomy 12:30
Exodus 34:15
Deuteronomy 20:18
Deuteronomy 8:19
Deuteronomy 13:13
Deuteronomy 18:10-13
Deuteronomy 32:16
Judges 2:3
Jeremiah 7:17-20
Acts 7:41-43

naturally, no one would ever follow the above examples of Christ if they did not believe and put faith in the fact that he was sent by his Almighty Father YHWH as our only means of salvation. One must accept and believe and have faith that Yhshua was sent by YHWH as our savior.

agape!

God outlined sins that were abominable but a sin is a sin. One you don't want to give up is the one that will get you. You can wear what you want but I wonder why people will dress better for a funeral or dinner date than they would going to worship the God who saved you. I don't worry about how much time I spend doing Christian acts. I don't suppose there is such thing as enough. I do the best I can and let grace cover the rest.

I am a modern Christian, and I have knowledge and wisdom regarding this matter, and others related to what you are asking. Actually the part about being a Sunday Christian is not really good at all...because according to the Holy Bible and history, Saturday is God's first holiday, and His people were given the instruction to observe the Sabbath day in rememberance of His Creation. There is no place in the Bible that calls us to worship God in rememberance of His resurrection. Study in history, outside of scripture, the Roman Catholic Church takes full responsibility and credit for changing the times to fit their needs, some 300+ years after Christ was already in heaven, and all of his apostles long buried. According to Daniel, there was a warning to avoid a beast power that would change laws and times. Jesus said to avoid following the traditions of men instead of Scriptural Doctrine.

I know you have some roots to the Jehovah's Witnesses...though you do not claim to be one now...what is your opinion on their teachings regarding the prophecies of Daniel? If you agree with the Prophecies, why does the majority of protestantism still uphold the tradition of man to observe this Sunday thing?

Listen, I was raised christian. I'm talking hardcore "we have to have church at home if you're too sick to go on sundays" type of family. I went through the same thing and i think it was so hard because it was something i had identified with my whole life and when i realized that i was loosing faith i felt like i was loosing a part of my identity. I know its hard but maybe if you want to be religious you need to research your religion or others and find your own meaningful reason to believe in what you choose. Don't let people tell you why you should believe because that may not work for you. Once you've searched for answers you can make your own educated decision and find what makes you happy.

Modern (true) Christians, as all true Christians throughout the ages, have the mind (and thereby, wisdom) of God (1 Corinthians 2:16). That mind in us reveals knowledge from the wellspring of truth and knowledge -- the Word of God, the Bible. And the Bible reveals such things as non-biblical observances, dress, and keeping sacred appointments, and certainly the reward for sin.

God's Word is clear on the observance of non-biblical "holy days" (such as Christmas, Easter, Valentine's Day, etc...), that are derived from the worship of false gods, that they are an abomination (Deuteronomy 12:30-31, 1 Corinthians 10:15-22). Yet days observed in celebration of God's kindness and mercy or even national days of celebration (such as Purim, Hanukkah, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, etc...) are not adverse to God and his Ways (John 10:22).

Our dress is like our work, and shows our love for God. Careless dress shows a care-less attitude toward God; respectful attire, shows care for the one who cares for us.

Consider how you would dress for a dinner in your honor, hosted by the President or Queen. Should you show any less respect to God? (Matthew 22:11-14)

However, there is no disrespect in finding and wearing comfortable, respectable attire. : )

As for the day's we observe, once again the analogy of a presidential or royal appointment. If you received an invitation to appear before the President or Queen, and you decided to come a day late, would you expect to receive honor or condemnation?

God's holy days are appointed for purpose; and one purpose is to reveal their purpose. Jesus said that the Sabbath was made for man (Mark 2:27) -- it is a gift from God. Will you trample under foot the gift of God?

And as for sin: it is revealed by our Lord himself that there are some sins that are regarded as lesser or greater (John 19:11, Matthew 23:23). Yet all sin has the same reward -- death (Ezekiel 18:4, 20).

P.S. -- L P's answer is good, though incomplete.

Some observances are not against the teaching of the Bible, yet were not invented in Biblical times. Some observances are against the Bible and were mentioned in old and new testament prophecies...such as those things which make an attempt to change what God intended for His chosen people. Who are His chosen people? Some say only 144,000...some say only members of their own congregation. According to Scripture, God's people are those who are adopted into the spiritual family of Israel...such as true Christians and others who have yet to learn the truth which is written in the Holy Bible.
It is not a sin to observe a day such as Thanksgiving...although we would hope that all are thankful every single day for the things which God has provided. There is not a place in the Bible which says, "Thou shalt not observe a birthday" because a few people lost their lives on some birthdays in the Bible.... I don't believe teaching people that Christ was born, lived and died for us is a sin...and why not celebrate those? The manner in which a thing is celebrated can determine whom you serve. Are you painting eggs, hiding them and trying to get your kids to find them out of honor for Christ's resurrection? I don't think so...How about buying X-mas gifts for ppl. I think there is more to it than that. Everyone knows Christmas originally had nothing to do with Christ, but some middle eastern god. It was made a holy day/holiday by the Roman Catholic Church...in order to appease the masses of pagans that were madatorily Christianized when Rome decided to re-create Christianity in it's own image. Christ was born around April or May...of our Western calendars...

Jesus taught that if we love Him, we will keep His commandments. What were Jesus' commandments? Were they different from those which were written by God's finger on stone? In the New Testament, Jesus taught that there are two great commandments, and on those two commandments hang all the law. The first of those commandments categorized the first four of the original 10 Commandments given to Moses...to love God with all of our minds, bodies, and souls...basically with our entire essence and being. The second of the great commandments categorized the last 6 of those 10 Commandments...to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Indeed if you check the versus of Exodus 20, you will note that the first four commandments talk about how to maintain good conduct with our Creator. The last six show us how to have good conduct with our fellow human beings. If you are still looking at Exodus 20...you might notice that the fourth commandment is the only one which starts out with the word Remember. It's shocking to realize that is the only one that has been rejected by the first world wide organization guilty of changing God's laws, and changing the pattern of time itself.

With that in mind, is it right and scripturally sound doctrine to be a Sunday Christian? Is not every day a good day to perform God's work? Why not observe God's first holiday (Holy Day), since the first week...and use your Sabbath to commune with our Creator, and thank Him for everything He has done for us.

I don't think there are many people who wear what is comfortable regardless of how it looks. At my church, I have never seen anyone dressed inappropriately, yet everyone has managed to balance this with being comfortable.

Although, some churches do have warped standards of appropriate. I once wore a suit to a Jehovahs Witness church and was asked to leave. I was informed only skirts were acceptable, despite the fact that I was very neatly and professionally dressed. However, the girl wearing three layers of summer skirts (it was winter) with men's work boots was not asked to leave. The several skirts were more apporpriate that my suit apparently.

Its respect for Jehovah God,
1self and others in ur congregation.
Specifically, the Scriptures say do all for His Glory
or was to His Glory.
Walk with modesty n soundness of mind w/ your God.
If u went to services, dressed like u were going out clubbin'...that is NOT respectful.
1Pe. 3:3,4; 1Tim. 2:9,10; & also Prov. 31:30 all refer do adorning yourself, externally. While not forgetting that the inside is most important.

Example: @ the baby shower for my 1st grdchild, 2 females from the other side of her family (the dad's side) came dressed, well the 10 yr old was wearing a see-thru dress w/ heels & drinking alcohol, the 15 yr old had her breasts pushed up so far if she sneezed her face woulda hit her breasts, and her skirt was SOOO short, if she broke wind Everybody woulda known what she had for breakfast..the day before. THAT is not respectful of ANYBODY present, including themselves.

No sin is greater than another.
And as for the holidays, dress,
performing Christian tasks are all Very important!
It reflects on you, your parent(s), ur association in the Christian congregation and God Himself- not least... I saved the best for last.

Should u not make sure that ur worship
is clean & acceptable to God?
Was it not Paul whom was teaching in Thessalonica
and the ppl, were checking the Scriptures to see if what he was saying was right/true? Acts 17:1,11 (I went n looked it up)

I think if you have a basic understanding of God's knowledge, you can use your judgment to discern things like that. Of course, there might be doubt over some minor issues...and such doubt demands further research.
I'm not sure if that fully answers the question...

It is hard to understand what God may think about fashion or Sundays. There are people who are unhappy Christians and other who are happy Christians. The unhappy thinks that God will kick his @ss if they don't behave by the book and the happy one thinks that God loves him so you should be in your underwear Sunday morning in Church.
If you are wearing shorts pants in church is not important is not a sin. Remember that when you are baptize you are naked, so being even naked in church makes no difference.

Is the actual culture who dictates what to wear and when
