depends on your money. If going for a cheaper car maybe a Japanese engine as will last longer if you have to buy a high mileage engine.Have a look on this link when you have thought of a few choices and it gives free owners reviews, so will give you an idea of which cars to stay away from or which problems they have to look for before you part with your money.

Right now they say the cheapest car on the market is a used Cadillac or Lincoln. They burn quite a bit of gas but they so cheap because no one will buy them because they think they will. be bad on gas. Also, they don't need many repairs (barely any ever). Those 2 things combined make up for the gas mileage which isn't as bad as you'd expect since they still run smoothly even after time, whereas another car might start to burn more gas and use more oil over time.

not to mention the fact that no police car will stop you, no matter how fast your going because they'll just assume your some old guy.

I always had used BMWs growing up (my first two cars actually were beamers). We bought them used from a private party. They were great machines, and super heavy and safe. And since we bought an 89 and then a 91 (this was a few years ago though) they were relatively cheap. Both under 10 grand. The first one I totaled. Not a scratch on me. Not even one bruise. The second one I sold. Depending on the car you get, I think it's a good, safe, affordable car.

depends how much you have to spend, if the budget is real tight the Mazda 323 also badged as Ford Laser or Meteor (86-90) are brilliant little cars that go forever!

Or if you want a larger vehicle look at a Ford Falcon or Holden Commodore on LPG the fuel savings are second to none though be careful about how they have been treated (hoon favourites)

Try looking for a car with an engine no bigger than a 1000cc as this will reduce the cost of your insurance and help to keep your petrol bill down. Look for a car which is a popular make (ford or vauxhall) as the parts are more available than foreign cars and usually cheaper to repair. looking for a low mileage car, try EBay and enter the description of the what car you want to purchase and add low mileage Hope this is of some help to you, Happy motoring

A reliable one. Forget any car that is not rated highest in reliability by consumer reports. That means you're looking for a Toyota, Honda or mabe Isuzu. Forget the hummers, vets, and fords....with the possible exception of the crown vic.

I would heavily consider a Honda Civic or a Honda Accord. They are both good looking cars, and are slightly more sporty looking (pre 2006 Civic, that is), compared to Toyota's offering (minus the Celica).

That and the Civic will probably run forever. They are very solid cars.

Something that gets GOOD GAS MILEAGE and from what I've seen Honda's run a long time making them good used cars.
