Poster above me, we don't have quotas.
As for the type of vehicle, I've never thought about that. It's usually based on a vibe I get off the driver, assuming I can get PC for the stop. I dont think I stop people more for having old, crapped out cars.

Heck atleast half the people here drive junk cars! I do not pull any vehicle over based on its apparent value. If the vehicle is so bad that it obviously is not safe for the road then certainly I would pull it over. Other than that I pull vehicles over for violations regardless of what it is for a vehicle. Some of the best people in my area are the very hard working self employed folks that often drive junkers. Whereas some of the worst drive the best cars and can be a bit upity and think they are above the law. I base my stops on violations as we are supposed to and that way get a mix of all sorts.
I will probably stop a lot of junkers next week though so I can meet that quota. Another 50 cars and I win a new toaster.

when pulling over a vehicle , i have to have a reason . i can't just pull a vehicle over because i feel like it . ( well actually i can ) i need to have a valid reason . older vehicles do not qualify as a reason . unless i see a clear mechanical issue .
normally with in 20 seconds of talking to the driver i can tell if they are hiding something , i have had more "rich" white guys hiding drugs in their car then i ever had some poor guy driving a beater if that helps answer your question

No, actually the fancier sports car is more likely to be pulled over, esp if they speed.
remember you can't just pull over a car without a reason.
a car with a "popped" trunk, where the lock is pulled out and missing, is more likely to get pulled over, and one with a window broken out.
Put a anti police bumber sticker on the car and we call that a target.

If it looks mechanically sound, doesn't show any evidence of being a stolen vehicle, and is being driven safely, I leave it alone.

As long as there aren't any violations, and the muffler is quiet, there wouldn't be any reason to stop it.
