In the past few years studies have shown that many of us don't drink enough water for good health. Along with general healthy eating recommendations, most health promoters have urged us all to drink more water, particularly whilst exercising. The message has been strong - avoid dehydration.
However, there is a different story emerging, especially amongst people who exercise. According to researchers almost as many exercisers are putting their health at risk by over-consuming water as drinking too little.
Drinking water at every opportunity can cause serious problems, such as hyponatraemia or water intoxication. As the water content of the blood increases, the salt content is diluted. Consequently the amount of salt available to body tissues decreases, which can lead to problems with brain, heart and muscle function.
Initial symptoms of over-hydration include dizziness, nausea, apathy and confusion. However these symptoms are also associated with dehydration - so it's important to be aware of how much you are drinking.
Is there cause for alarm? The British Dietetic Association guidelines state that an average adult should consume 2.5 litres of water per day. This intake needs to be increased during periods of hot weather or during and after periods of physical activity.
You can get your daily water requirements from sources other than pure water - your cup of tea counts! Water is the main ingredient of all drinks – carbonated drinks and still drinks, fruit juices and fruit and vegetables all have a high water content.
A clear message of Do It, but Don’t Overdo It!!

i drink about a mug full
Ideally, we need to drink at least two litres (eight glasses) of pure water per day, in addition to other fluids, such as alcohol, tea, coffee and soft drinks. Children should drink approximately half this amount, depending on their age. Although we should ideally drink at least eight glasses of water a day, only 10% do so. Over half the population only drink between one and four glasses of water a day, and this can lead to dehydration.

The healthy average is 8 glasses of water a day (2 litres) , and add an extra glass to every cup of caffienated drink you consume. So if we say you drink 2 cups of coffee a day, you'll need the basic 8 glasses of water a day + 2 glasses = 10 glasses :)
This is the healthy amount to maintain the beauty and vibrance of your skin, hair, and nails. It keeps your metabolism healthy and active, prevents you somehow from gaining weight, and participates in weight loss. It also prevents a lot of diseases, such as kidney stones.
Go grab a glass of water now ;)
hope the info helps!

As much as possible, anything is better than nothing, Just avoid tea / coffee and too much sugar,
I got dehydrated two years ago whilst out sailing, developed kidney stones which remained undetected until renal colic set in. That was painfull and for a bloke is compared as the nearest thing to child birth.
Dont recommend anyone getting dehydrated. So i try to drink water when poss, but love my tea, ( I am English after all) !

We should try for two litres; but I personally can only manage a litre. I try and have a small glass before and after each meal. you know how youthful looking Chinese women tend to be - they never look their age? Well they put it down to having lots of water in the body; they say we don't drink enough. They drink lots of clear soups, and lots of tea - chinese style, no milk.

Some days I drink lots, other days, very little. I think the ideal is 4-6 glasses a day, in addition to whatever else you drink. Yesterday, I had coffee (lots) and smoothies (lots) and only 2 glasses of water... hmm.

usually I drink 1.5 L a day (including clear water, tea, coffee, juices, milk, liquid from different soups and so on). But doctors say that a man should drink 1.5-2 L of liquids a day. They recommend it to healthy people otherwise a man should consult a specialist.
