You could, however you would be wasting 400 or 1000 units of alpha tocopherol oil....the vitamin "E" or tocopherol (you have at least three, alpha, gamma and beta), has to be dispersed in an oily base, like neutral cold cream, so it can stay in the touch with the skin for time long enough, to be absorbed...
You can buy plain alpha tocopherol with your pharmacyst, and mix one fifth of that yellow oil which is the vitamin E, with four fifths of plain white non perfumed cold cream...and voila...however, you have to mix it for several minutes with a clean spoon or a wooden tongue depressor before its ready

I could have swore I just posted to break open the capsule and apply it to the face. Either I can't type or your didn't read my whole reply. Either way yes break open the capsule and apply it to your face. It is fine.
