This is a genuine question, really. What do you believe happens to you after you die? Does the idea of death scare you if you believe that death is just the end?

The "believing death is the end" was for athiests (and not as an insult) I know that other religions believe in a life after death, I'm sorry I implied otherwise. For others answering this question please state your religion and what you believe happens after death.
Again I'm sorry I didn't clarify before.

No death does not scare me. I live by the golden rule, because it makes sense, not because when I die I am rewarded. When I die, I die knowing that I have loved, and been loved. That I honored my elders, and passed family lore to my children. That I was a good friend, sister, mother, wife, and daughter who gave as much joy as I received.

Death is the end, but we touch other people everyday in many ways, and good works live on. So even though I end, I am happy knowing that I have touched lives, and shared loves.

I cannot believe these answers . Anybody that says that they are not scared of dying is either over 95 years old or a liar .
Death scares the hell out of me. I've been eyeball to eyeball with it on a couple of occasions and I can assure you that it was not a pleasant experience.
I have come close enough to death to have said my last words which were " Oh S**t!!" Not exactly a poetic choice on my part But as I have discovered, one that has been selected by many others in similar situations.
Many years ago , a friend of mine rolled a PU at high speed.Six days later ,when I actually remember regaining consciousness the thought hit me "If I was dead I would never have known the difference " and according to my doctors for a couple of minutes I was dead. That's a scary thought indeed.
What happens when I die ?Beyond organic decomposition ? Nothing Fade to black

Well, I am non-Christian, but I don't believe death is a complete end.

I believe that after death, everyone is ressurected, judged by God, and then enters Heaven or Hell.

Right now, yes, I am afraid of death becuase I do not think I am the best of persons and I would like time to repent and do good deeds, but I do not fear death thinking that I will not exist afterwards.

Good question.

Being Wiccan, one can choose their own beliefs, this can range from a summerland, which I suppose is kind of like heaven; reincarnation as another person; reincarnation as an animal, bot ses of reincarnation is to achieve spiritual perfection and my personal belief that when you die, your soul is sento a neherland where it may reside before having to make a decision. I believe that when I die; my body will no longer function but my soul will and then it will have to choose: Reincarnation to achieve spiratual perfection or move on to summerland.
I'm not really afraid of death as such, I'm afraid that I will die young without having finished high school without ever kissing a boy, dying before my parents but mostly I'm afraid of what will happen to my family, friends and animals. I remember losing my grandfather of my mother's side and I saw that it just about destroyed her mother and family, I'm afraid that if I die before my mum, she would have to go through that pain again, and my friends, I'm afraid of leaving bitter memories and having not made up with them after our minor aguements. My pets especially. My dogs seems to mourn when I leave for school each morning and when I get back; she acts like I was away for a week instead of 6 hours, also I have fish, a frog and a newt and I know my parents wouldn't keep them. But otherwise I am not afraid of actually dying, in fact I have nearly died before; when I was 11 years old. I was hit by a car when I was biking down hill and I was lucky that I knew how to fall otherwise I would have probably broken my neck. as it was my entire right leg was swollen and purple for weeks after the incident.

i'm agnostic and i dont believe in the existence of heaven/hell. I think there is either nothing after death or we are reincarnated. In either case, I'm not really afraid, but I plan to live my life while I'm alive. I'm not sure about Karma, but I believe in being a good person. If death is just the end, then so be it. It doesn't scare me

No. What point is there in being afraid of something that is inevitable? I will try as long as I can to avoid dying because I know that once I am dead, that's it.

Are christians afraid of death? They shouldn't be. According to them, they should look forward to death, because they get to go to heaven. Unless of course they happen to worship the wrong god. Then they go to hell. If I were a christian I'd be scared that I picked the wrong religion.

There is nothing after death. We die, we're gone, done deal. Death in inevitable, it is natural, and it will happen to all so what is there to fear? Since the base of all religions is the fear of death it seems to me it is the believers who are the ones fearful.

i am not scared of dieing because i know were i am going when i die. if you live your life the way god wants you to live then u don't have to worry about what's going to happen to you when you die. people these days look at Christianity like, you believe in god once then you do whatever you want to do. that is very wrong. Christianity is you believe in god and then you apply it through your every day life. most importantly is running away from sin. if you do that, you will fill about death, the same way you fill about Christmas.

Heaven & Hell don't really do it for me. Sitting in nothingness for eternity doesn't sound very promising either. It's the whole eternity thing that gets me. Doing the same thing forever and ever would drive someone insane eventually wouldn't it? The only one that sounds good is reincarnation. Playing the game again. But even doing that for an eternity would get repetitive and strange. Unless you lose enough of your memories each time that it never seems like an eternity. Ignorance is bliss.

The concept of death scares all types of people. It's instinct to fear it. However, there are various ways of looking at it and making peace in one's mind with the concept, either by a religious type belief, of simply finding a measure of acceptance that it's the end.
