Christians, do not try to tell me none are used in Christianity, I've attended too many of your rituals.

I use both yew and oak made by my own hand. the wand is yew and the Stave is Oak--well carved and dark with the years.

Stave
A fairly long, straight piece of solid material used especially as a support in walking and protection: synonyms a. staff b. stick c. cane
Rod
A scepter, staff, or wand symbolizing power or authority. Usually decorated at the top.

These have been in use by religions long before either the Hebrew or Christian Church existed and adopted their use.

The Bbilbel an Koran people have no reason to resent that they share a tradition of the senior religions.

To all my Friends....If you haven't figured it already, though I have studied the religion of Wicca I am not of the circle of Wicca, My tools accompany me in many places and through many times of ritual and learning.

I cannot choose between the answers bacause I see much in many, so I will leave it for you to vote.

I've always wanted a wand. That's cool. I am more of a gemstone person.

I don't use a Rod, Wand or Stave. I do use an athame when casting circle or for other workings that call for that sort of thing. I'm a hands on type of person in mundane life as well as spiritual so using my hands seem a very natural thing to do.

I did find a smooth piece of drift wood while on the beach some years ago that I used to cast circle before I purchased my athame. I still have it and intend to keep it.

Well Terry, I have used them all in my time, I open my circle now with my sword...I have found that this way I am in absolute control of my circle and don't have too many problems about "Hitchhikers" if you know what I mean.. I sheath my sword after I open and I always have my Staff with me, which is also made by my hands...I also am wearing my Athame under my Robes as I have been doing for many years... I once was stopped by the police on my way to my Coven and one of them wanted to charge me with carrying offensive weapons... The more senior Cop, at least had some brains and let me be on my way...Love and Light.. BB.. )O(

I don't use any of those tools -- I'd be most likely to use a wand, but just haven't found one yet that suits me. For casting circle and directing energy, I use the athame. When gentler energy is called for, I simply use my hands.

Bishops have staffs but they are not necessary for rituals or "Spells". They are symbols of office being shepards of the flock. Other than that example I haven't a clue of what you are inferring.

Mostly, I use my hands.

Oh yeah, I kick it old school.
(I do have an ebony rod. But that's a long story, and special occassions.)
