It would really be refreshing if someone thought carefully about that question. Why did you ask it?
If you insist that "God" is involved in stem cell research and deliberately killing off first born sons of Egyptians......none of this makes any logical sense............... at least call it what it is: Mythology used to teach a lesson, not to be taken literally.
Killing of embryos can also be called "miscarriages." Of course they wouldn't have known the reason, so making up stories that include god(s) was their only recourse.
I mean, really............why would god do all that stuff in the first place if he/she/it is so loving? If you are a follower of Jesus, you must believe that God is loving. Therefore, none of the other stories make any sense.
Blind faith only results in a needless fear of the unknown. There are MANY ways of viewing an issue. The best way to solve the issue is through research and logical thinking. Using "God" to fill in the gaps only means you haven't done much homework.
Sorry for sounding so blunt, but I think god gave us brains to question the things around us, not to accept ideas, including religious dogma just because our parents did.
A questioning mind seeks more knowledge. That knowledge creates more questions. Once you stop questioning, you might as well build a shack in the woods and live like a hermit.

Oh, well done squirrel.
You did get caught on that messy first 'born' detail, but I got the idea anyway.
Does it say anything about abortion in the bible? Really, I have no idea. 'Specifically' abortion, not an umbrella clause.
I recently listened to someone speaking on their research in this area. Fascinating.
I personally have my own theory on how this all holds together. As difficult as it may seem, I think that first phase is even more interesting than we know.
Peace and sigh, that squirrel of yours...at least lay a flower on the it. Sigh.

I don't honestly know. I don't like the term 'stem cell'. It sounds like a slimy, dull pink, leggless larvae that wriggles around and lives in a sewer system.

Nah, that doesn't sound as grusome as killing first born babies. It wouldn't scare people enough.
