how do i set MS word back to default settings?

everytime i want to create a new document, all the margins and everything is messed up, please help me set to default settings, thanks

Is Word messed up or just the "normal" template you get when you open a new document?

If the problem is Word, open a document and click Help, look down the list and click on Detect and Repair.

If it is the normal.dot template (for new Word docs) --
- open a new Word document
- click File
- Page Setup
- make all the settings you normally use
- now, click Format, Font
- at the lower left, click "default"
you will receive a warning that this will make these changes to the normal.dot template and ask if you want to do this
- click Yes

New Word documents will now follow the settings you just made.

try clicking start > accessories > system tools > system restore > restore my computer to an earlier time

in my experiece, this is better than uninstalling and reinstalling word.
