When I think of the history of Abraham, Egypt existed before Abraham, so the descendants of Egypt predate Abraham's first born son, Ishmael.

So, how did Egypt become a Muslim nation?

in a racial sense egypt has always been an african arab country. christianity gained a foothold in egypt, because of the advance of the roman empire. alexandria was one of the major centers for early christianity. they were and still are called coptic christians. in a nutshell, around 650AD the muslims invaded egypt. the coptic christians were at that time under the control of the byzantine christians of constantinople. they differed theologically. long story short... many coptic christians beliefs didn't differ much from that of the muslims because many were arians. the muslims allowed the coptics that still chose christianity to remain christians. this allowed those christians to dictate their our christian beliefs without interference from byzantian doctrinal opinion. neither western or eastern christianity were of enough interest or strenght to repulse the muslim incursion and so egypt became a muslim country.

True, but the Nation today, is Majority Muslim. They immigrated to Egypt. Egypt was more of a Pagan Nation usually. The Pharaohs worshiped many gods. A hand full, maybe only one, worshiped the God of Israel, God of Abraham, God Almighty.

Most of the Egyptians became Muslim. During the time of Abraham, Islam nor Christianity existed. Italy is a primarily Christian nation, but during ancient times, they had Roman gods. Times change. Eventually all religions die off and are replaced by new ones.
