by overall weight loss because we cant choose which body parts to lose the weight off.
if you do sit ups it will only make your belly look bigger since there is gona be more muscle underneath the layer of fat.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Contrary to what the info commercials suggest, there is no such thing as spot reduction. Fat is lost throughout the body in a pattern dependent upon genetics, sex (hormones), and age. Overall body fat must be reduced to lose fat in any particular area. Although fat is lost or gained throughout the body, it seems the last area to become lean or the first area to get fat is the midsection (in men and some women) and hips and thighs (in women and few men).
So you need to exercise large muscle groups... take up a rowing machine for example.. for 45 minutes a day... and do weight training every second day... it will fly off.

Eat lean meats, fruits, veggies, low-fat dairy products, and whole grains. Listen carefully - you cannot lose weight from one area of your body. There is no such thing as spot training. You have to do cardio in order to lose weight overall. You should also do some strength training such as crunches or side bends to help strengthen up your abdominal muscles. Good luck and don't fall for any fads. The only healthy way to lose weight and keep it off is good old diet and excercise.

Cardio. There is no such thing as spot-reducing, so that means you cannot do crunches/situps/any other ab exercises and lose size/fat from the abs. (If you do bunches of situps however, you will get great muscle tone underneath that layer of fat. You just won't be able to see if through the potbelly). The only way to lose fat is cardio. Run, bike, swim, whatever you please. Once you lose the fat, your ab muscles that you had been working on with the situps will start to show through, and before you know it you will have flat abs.

You can't burn foat from on specific part of your body. It is all burned at the same rate it is stored, so doing crunches or sit ups will not burn the fat over your abdomin faster tahn aerobics or jogging would. I swim and all the wieght i when the season is out is lost about 3 weeks into the seaon, so if you swim..errrr... vigorously, you should be able to lose it quickly

to lose weight effectively from the abs, you have to work your whole body to get the fat off before you can build muscle. try doing cardio everyday, get your heartrate up for at least 30 minutes if you can manage. try swimming, biking, running, jogging, etc. make yourself sweat! this will help work your whole body. another good excersize is a "core" exersize. raise yourself to your forearms and toes and hold it, it works your whole body. you cant target a zone to lose weight, so it takes time. after you do alot of cardio, do crunces, it will help to strengthen the muslces. good luck!

Unfortunately, you cannot spot reduce bodyfat. Good abs are made by your diet and exercise - ab exercises only strengthens and develops ab muscles, but you won't see them at all unless you reduce your overall bodyfat percentage.
