When I think back to those younger days, I would have to say my 'first date' was my senior prom! The year was 1974 and I went to the prom with a Junior that my aunt arranged for me. She was oh-so particular about keeping me chaste and untouched and was very much involved in my life throughout high school. His mother AND father were both attorney's and they sent him to pick me up in "their' limo, driven by their 'female' driver. She was very kind and so was "Richard". He lookd so handsome in his burgandy tux, and me in my white empire dress with burdangy roses and green ribbons. He bought me a wrist corage that matched my gown and his tux. His boutineer, which I purchased with my own money was white. We enjoyed the prom and while everybody else was going to "The Hawaiian Gardens" for dinner - our driver slipped us to "Bloomfield Hills", Michigan, where we had dinner at a very swank restaurant. In fact, we were the only African American's in the place. Talk about compliments and questions. The restaurant was so nice to us - they paid for our meal. I was supposed be home by 12:00 - but I didn't get home until 1:00. I thought I was done for, but little did I know - the driver had called ahead to advise my aunt where we were, and that we were safe. She was not upset when I walked in the door - in fact- she was fast asleep. Thanks for taking me back to the good ole days.

My first date wasn't really supposed to be a date it just turned into it. My sister and Matt had left and my boy friend and I were left at my house alone. So we went up stairs and he asked if I would kiss him I was so freaked out that I didn't even answer. So we didn't but I should have. So remember if somebody asks you if you would kiss them say yes only if you people like each other.

I took her to the zoo. It's a good social atmosphere but there's also stuff to look at so you're not just staring at each other across a table all night, or sitting in silence in a theater. You get to interact with each other, you get to be around things that are good for keeping conversation going, and it's a date that can move along at whatever pace you are comfortable with.

My first date was nice. I was surprised she wasn't dead after I was through with her.
