If any Denomination is, which one do you feel is closest to the church set up by Christ and the apostles described in the New Testament? I would ask that anyone who answers this question approach it objectively, and citation of sources would be greatly appreciated.

Christ said that HE would build HIS church (singular) Matt. 16:18...

He did NOT say that He would build a bunch of different denominations with conflicting doctrines and traditions that are contrary to the very oracles of God.

Where the word churches (plural) is used in scripture it is NEVER used to designate different denominations, but rather, CHRIST's church in different locations/communities. Example: Corinth, Ephesus, Jerusalem, etc.

NO denomination is the church of Christ....there is only one church of Christ.

CHRIST is the head of THE body (Col. 1:18)...

THE body is THE church...Eph. 1:23..

CHRIST is the SAVIOR of THE body (Eph. 5:23)..

There is only ONE body (Eph. 4:4)..

CHRIST loved THE church and gave HIMSELF (shed his blood) for IT (singular)...Eph. 5:25

THE church is THE body of Christ..

If one is not a member of THE church that CHRIST said that HE would build, then one is NOT part of CHRIST's body....

to reject CHRIST's church (body) is to reject the SAVIOR of THE body....Jesus Christ.

IF Christ is the head of ALL churches (plural), WHY did He say, "I will build MY church" (singular) Matt. 16:18

When church of CHRIST is on the sign outside the building it is NOT a name of a denomination....it show WHO are meeting in the building and WHOM they follow.

Romans 16:16

I have never seen the church of BAPTIST, church of MORMON, church of CATHOLIC, church of LUTHERN, church of PRESBYTERIAN, etc.....but I HAVE read about the church of CHRIST. :o)

Study the oracles of God (scriptures) not the thought processes of man.

Romans 16:16

Fellowship has changed my outlook on all religions and churchs. Do you really think God cares if we go to church, or how much money we give to the church. He doesn't need our money, or our sacrifices. He wants our mercy, he wants us to be able to love others as he loves us. Everything we need is in the Bible, his teachings are in that book.
I went to a Catholic school for 8 years, I was catholic for 32 years. I tried the Lutheran church also, nothing has been as easy and as close to the word of God as joining a fellowship. I'm not saying that there are not good people in those churchs, I was one of them, until I found this. Fellowship is not a denomination, it is a group of people that all have the same belief and that is of God, Jesus, and the Holy-Spirit. We read the Bible together, each week it's at a different house and sometimes there are more present than other times. There are no rules, no dues, and nothing door to door. It is the most simple answer I have ever received. I can say it was very hard at first to go to a Fellowship meeting, I always thought you had to have a church building and a person of the clergy their to guide you. I didn't realize that is what the Holy-Spirit does for us.

naturally, everyone is going to recommend their own religion; otherwise they would be looking for a better one!

I have been studying and researching all the belief systems of the world incl. atheism, non-christian, evolutionism and so-called "christian" religions for over 25 years.

the conclusion I have come to is that most (not all) religions are hypocritical. But even more important to recognize is that *all* belief systems are imperfect and subject to mistakes.

if you want to put faith in the teachings of Christ (and this is where I am at in my journey), then you should look for some important features when looking for the fellowship of true Christians:

being a true Christian is to follow the example of Christ (1 Peter 2:21; John 13:15; 1 John 2:6) including all the things he taught his Apostles to write for our instruction (2 Timothy 3:16)

Yhshua/Jesus warned that there would be many false christians, claiming to believe in him yet not doing the will of his Father. And that there would only be a few *true* Christians doing the will of his Almighty Father YHWH/Jehovah (see Matthew 7:13-23)

So what did Christ do that every Christian must do in order to be a *true* Christian?

1. Every true Christian must pray to and serve "the only true God" (see John 17:3) the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (see Acts 3:13) whose name is YHWH/Jehovah
see also;
Matthew 22:37/Deuteronomy 6:5
Matthew 14:23
Mark 1:35
Mark 6:46
Mark 14:32
Luke 6:12
Matthew 6:9
John 20:17
John 17:1-5
John 5:19
John 14:28
Mark 10:18
Matthew 26:39
John 8:17-18
Mark 13:32
Matthew 20:23
Matthew 3:17

2. Every true Christian must love everyone (see Matthew 22:39; Mark 12:31) and never harm or kill another human being
see also;
Matthew 5:44-48
Matthew 26:52
Luke 6:27
Luke 10:27
John 13:34, 35
John 15:17
1 Peter 2:23
1 Peter 3:9
Romans 12:17
Romans 13:10
2 Timothy 2:24
1 Corinthians 16:14
1 John 3:9-15
1 John 4:20

3. Every true Christian must continually preach YHWH's Kingdom which He has appointed His only-begotten Son Yhshua to rule over
see;
Matthew 24:14
Luke 4:43
Luke 10:1-3
Acts 5:42
Acts 8:4
Acts 20:20
1 Corinthians 9:16
Romans 10:15
2 Timothy 4:2-5
Matthew 4:23a
Matthew 9:35a
Luke 9:6a
1 Peter 2:21

4. Every true Christian must be "no part of the world" of human kingdoms/governments/politics
see;
John 18:36
Daniel 2:44
Luke 4:5-8
James 4:4
John 15:19
John 17:14
Acts 5:29
1 John 2:15
Romans 12:2
John 14:30
2 Corinthians 4:4
Ephesians 2:2
1 John 5:19

5. Yhshua said that many false christians would be identified because they would not be doing the will of YHWH (Matthew 7:21)
So every true Christian must be careful not to mix traditions, rituals and festivals originally designed for false pagan Roman gods into our worship of the only true God.
See (and note that everywhere it says LORD is where Christ‘s Father‘s name YHWH/Jehovah used to be);
Deuteronomy 12:30
Exodus 34:15
Deuteronomy 20:18
Deuteronomy 8:19
Deuteronomy 13:13
Deuteronomy 18:10-13
Deuteronomy 32:16
Judges 2:3
Jeremiah 7:17-20
Acts 7:41-43

naturally, no one would ever follow the above examples of Christ if they did not believe and put faith in the fact that he was sent by his Almighty Father YHWH as our only means of salvation. One must accept and believe and have faith that Yhshua was sent by YHWH as our savior.

agape!

The Catholic Church replaced into based by way of Jesus. people who say that the Catholic Church began for the duration of the time of Constantine are incorrect. there is not any historic evidence pointing to this. by way of the time the Edict of Milan, allowing non secular tolerance (some revisionist erroneously say that this edict created the Catholic Church and made it the solid church of Rome) replaced into proclaimed there had already been greater desirable than 50 popes that reigned from the time of Peter. The Church replaced into already noted because of the fact the Catholic Church as early as advert 107 in accordance to the writings of St. Ignatius of Antich. it rather is amazingly achieveable that the term already utilized for the duration of the 1st century. sure, the fundies and evangelicals have new heretical doctrines that weren't taught by way of the Apostles of Jesus. those fake doctrines are in line with their incorrect interpretation of th Bible. And the strange element is that dissimilar those fundies say that they are the only authentic Christians and that Catholics are actually not Christians.

The Church of Christ believes that we should speak where the Bible speaks, be silent where the Bible is silent, do Bible things in Bible ways and call Bible things by Bible ways.

The church of the Bible was organized as independant congregations; tied together only by their common acceptance of the Bible as the authoratative Word of God. There was no national office. They were not a denomination that had any man-made organization. The Church of Christ is the same.

Christ is the head of the church, therefore, we have no headquarters on earth. (Eph 1:22-23)

The Church of Christ wishes to have Biblical authority for all we teach and practice (Col. 3:16).

I invite you to investigate the church of Christ.

If the things we teach and practice are in the Bible, then accept them. If we teach things not in the Bible, reject them!

Any church should not mind such a comparison to Scripture! In fact, they should encourage it! !Acts 17:11)

I invite you to watch the 6 video lessons on the attached link. They will tell more about the church of the Bible.

So far the only group of believers who follow true to the New Testament and in the Fellowship and teaching of the Apostles would be those meeting with the local churches of the Lord's Recovery. The do not take the name of any man or dogma... from what i have noticed too, is that the church's name is according to the city as a boundry. So ljust like in the early churches we have " the Church in Corinth" or " the church in Ephesus" there will be " the Church in Sydney" or " the Church in Tokyo" ... they take just the city as their boundary but ALL OF CHRIST as their Identity.
They embrace all born again believers.. their doctrine is sound and fully scriptural. As such the enemy has attacked them but the Lord has preserved them since they stand for Only the Lord's interest on the earth.

They do not care for worldly fame or name... only for Christ and The Universal Church. They stand on the many blessed brothers and sisters throughout the centries who have been used by the Lord to Recover the truths lost and veiled to us.

They Hold true to the Universal Church as the Body of Christ but is expressed locally... Eg.. of the One Moon.. its seen in different cities and expressed in each city, yet there is still only one moon that each of us see from our various locations... In the same manner.. There is One Church as the Body of Christ Universally but has a local expression that is a proceedure to brings us into and to see the reality of the Body of Christ...

My utterance is very limited, but the links below will lead anyone interested in visiting a local church near them and also there is a link to a book called " the Orthodoxy of the Church" by Brother Watchman Nee that will shed more light on this matter.. Please... it is available to all God's children online for free as well as a lot of other books through Living Stream Ministry as a supply for all believers to be built up on the Most Holy Faith for the Lord's name sake and His going on.

The Church established by Christ was given the authority to bind and loose all things in heaven and earth, including forgiving or retaining sins.

Ask yourself, which church today has a process for hearing confessions and forgiving or retaining sins?

Christ taught that those whom God has joined together in marriage should not be divorced.

Ask yourself, which church today does not permit divorce?

Which church today advocates that it's members eat and drink the body and blood of Christ, which Christ taught was necessary to obtain eternal life?

Christ taught that his Church would last forever and that not even the gates of hell would prevail against it.

Which church even makes a claim of having been around since the time of Christ?

The Catholic Church.

it does not exist represented by any particular denomination, and "Non-denominational" Churches are a misnomer because they ARE denominations themselves. BUT it does exist in particular local churches...

If you find a church that Looks like a BIG family- no clicks or sects- very young to very old are all present and openly interacting with each other- no one cares what anyone else is wearing (and you know by the way the youth and college kids dress that everyone is welcome as they are), they eat meals together often, pray together often, and you know where the new people are because everyone gathers around to talk with them. You feel welcome when you walk through the door -no matter who you are. They are not about going around preaching, but are often going around to food pantries, soup kitchens, nursing homes, hospitals... to lend a hand and help those in need.

You're not going to find this in any "mega-churches" and if you are looking for written Church Doctrine you're not going to find what you are looking for anywhere. It can only be found in a community of believers that LIVE like Christians. I'm in a Nazarene church that is like this, but I've seen Baptists, Methodists, "Nondenominational", and Eastern Orthodox Catholics that are Christian Families too. I've also seen churches of most every denomination that are all about Doctrine and seem to have no place for LOVE in their church.

You can look for Doctrine, but if you read the Bible you will know that People are what really mater to God. I believe ALL Christian churches have what really matters in common, and our differences are not relevant to salvation. The Key is LOVE. That & salvation through Christ Jesus are the only doctrines that matter. Peace.

I don't know. I think if you just love G-d and try to follow His commandments; if you follow what Jesus said in the New Testament to the best of your ability, then you can make His original church within you. However, if you really need a building to fellowship in and worship, I just joined a messianic church over a year ago (it's Jewish-christian) and I think it's something how a church in the first century would have been. (I've been a "Christian" for 17 yrs).

I think the denomination thats the closes is the Seventh Day Adventists. I use to go to Bapist church but they don't follow the all of the Ten commandments (Revelation 12:17) and other laws such like the Health food laws. They follow the teaching to the word and they know what there talking about!

I honestly don't know if there is one. That's just from my experiences with different denominations and why I am having trouble finding a church I really want to be a part of.

God Bless.
