The audio system I plan on putting into my car is worth more than my car itself. My engine is also slightly supped up (previous owner) and I plan on fixing up the engine even more, making into more of a race/show car than anything. I'm looking into a good way to secure this. I don't want an alarm system because seriously, when I hear car alarms, all it does is annoy me and I think if someone was gonna take my car or the goods, they wouldn't care. At the end of summer I am also moving to a much larger city where the crime rate is higher and this kind of bugs me. I'm looking for a good way to secure my car and audio system. Price isn't an object, to protect this stuff anything's worth it. Any ideas or anyone have anything they've done that works well?
By the way, it's for a '96 Chevy Cavalier

Yea, this is my first car in high school so there's the emtional attatchment too. My fiance has a '64 1/2 Mustang, a '49 Chevy 3100, and is looking into a new Mustang, so as far as other cars worth it, we got it covered.

invest in a good alarm system. possibly OnStar because it has a GPS tracking system that will locate your car if its stolen. people dont care if they hear an alarm because usually its because it was triggered on accident. HOWEVER, if they saw a person driving a car, while the alarm was going off, they would be a bit more concerned. at night, keep it in a garage (locked) and while your outside with it, always lock it. if you are really concerned, dont let the car look TOO showy. it will attract more attentnion.

A pit bull tied to the bumper & a 12 ga shotgun on the front porch.

Seriously, I have a removable face on my stereo. just pop it out when I feel the need'

As far as the souped up '96 cavalier? Is it really worth that kind of fixing up?
I get the impression this car is going to be one HOT number. But a Cavalier? Come On Man. Get a real car. Something more like a Mustang or a Trans Am . A Cavalier? LOL - LMFAO

Take the distributor rotor with you. As for the audio system, there is no way to secure it 100%. Best bet is to not install it in the dash. Instead put it under the front seat or built into the glovebox.. If it's visible, it's going to disappear.

a locked garage is your best defense, a big dog is the next. Either if these are probably NOT what you are looking for, so your best bet is the alarm, or hiding everything you install. If it looks like a POS, then maybe the crooks will leave it alone. Good Luck

Get a big dog!
Or a hidden battery isolation switch (professionally installed)

Place C4 explosive device under seat. You can control it remotely to turn on and off
