If it was truly capable of serious injury or fatality, it would be regulated as to purchase and/or possession by law as REAL firearms are!
Your friend is a doofus, and is B.S.'ing you!
As the age-old saying goes, "Don't play with that, you'll shoot your eye out!".........
But it won't cause any other serious injury.

That is not an airsoft gun. That is a real BB gun.
It would be hard to kill someone but it could happen. BB's do not really reach a speed that would allow them to kill a person, but ... at 400 fps this gun could if it hit the right spot including the eye or even was shot up the nose like in a recent CSI Episode.
The actor above was killed by a BLANK gun NOT by a BB gun. Big difference. A blank gun uses shells similar to real guns and they have the same percussion at the barrel in order to make a realistic sound. There is a wad in them that can become a projectile. It is made of paper and when put to the temple will kill you just like a bullet.. although it will not travel as far as a heavier lead projectile. The Actor died not from the percussion but from the wad entering his brain.

It's a CO2 pistol and NOT an airsoft gun. While this particular ones is a fairly low powered one which probably wouldn't kill someone, it could still do damage as these guns fire metal pellets rather than plastic BB's.
CO2 guns are NOT intended for shooting at other people and you should NEVER shoot someone with one.

I doubt it, but if this replica was pointed at you in a way to scare you, then suddenly you ran across the street only to be hit by a bus, then maybe your friend was right.
