No, it is not a disease any more than blue eyes are a disease. Homosexuals are born that way. It's something in their genetic makeup that predisposes them to sexually prefer members of their own sex. The Bible says it is a sin, but I don't think anyone knew at that time, the exact cause. Some people call it a "lifestyle", but I don't agree with that either. I've known some homosexuals who really don't want to be that way, but can't seem to change. People don't choose to be gay, any more than someone chooses to be left-handed. They are what they are -- period! That's why I think it is wrong for society to look their noses down on gay people, and for the government to deny them the same rights as married heterosexuals, when gays are in a domestic partnership.

There is a down side, regarding promiscuity among gays, which often leads to AIDS or being HIV positive. Those are diseases, and unfortunately can be fatal, even with treatment. So the best plan is monogamy; that is, stick to one partner. Otherwise, use protection. Be safe and take care of yourself. Don't listen to people who are prejudiced, judgmental and think they know it all. Good luck and God bless!

No, homosexuality is not a psychiatric disorder. The American Psychiatric Association removed it from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders in 1973 after finding no difference between gay and straight people other than sexual orientation. The American Psychological Association affirmed the resolution two years later.

My gay friends are about as happy and well adjusted as my straight friends. Some of them always knew they were gay, and some didn't figure it out until later, but it was never a matter of "choosing to be gay."

Homosexuality is not unique to humans, either. Several species of animals are now known to exhibit this behavior.

No. In fact, there is a manual of psychiatric and psychological disorders and homosexuality was completely removed from this manual over 20 years ago.

Homosexuality seems to be related to maternal stress levels and maternal stress hormones flooding the fetal brain at a certain stage of development. This makes it a neurostructural difference. But it's not in any way, shape or form any type of an illness, it's not a choice, and it's not something that anyone can cure or can morally even begin to claim that they can cure. It just is.

No, some people are born with the wrong genetic,( best way to put it) I.D. in simple terms their lust for the opposite sex just isn't there (they don't have the right hormones to feel a certail way, without getting into technical mumbo). this happens because they were born with certain things not working "normally". so unfortunately they don't think or feel the same, that whole recreation drive thing. it's not a choice they just don't have the lust for the opposite sex. unfortunately for the many that are born that way their are the members of the gay community that "chose" to be gay, and they are usually unfortunate as well. Some might have been abused as kids or mentally abused by a loved one, or even worse sexually abused (but not allways, there can be other reasons(many other reasons). They "chose" for lack of a better word to find comfort in the gay community (which is great!). I think though it is good that they can find a way to feel accepted and be able to deal with allot of things that they would much rather leave behind... So to answer your question point blank. being gay is one of two things! either your were born with the wrong genetic make-up and you don't have the right (whatever right is) genes to make you want to (chase the opposite sex) re-create. Or not! and something along the way messed with your head and pushed you in the direction of a comforting world, be it the gay community or some other one (hopefully note some wayco Texas kinda place).. Have a good one.

Well, let me just say this: that's the million-dollar question! Really, I don't think it's possible to answer without someone else shooting your own theory down and substituting it with their own. Some will say, "Yes, it's an illness and anyone who is gay needs serious help!" Others will tell you, "No, but gays are sinners and they're going to burn in hell." Still others will jump up and yell out, "NO, IT'S NOT AN ILLNESS, AND THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU IF YOU -ARE- GAY!!!"
It is my personal belief that no, homosexuality is not an illness. It is also my personal belief that just because someone is gay, doesn't mean they are going to hell. There are plenty of people out there who will yell at me and say, "You blasphemer!!!" but really, I don't give a rip. I think that in a culture where there are people in both extremes of the homosexuality-illness spectrum, it's impossible to get one finite answer. So really, it's up to you do decide for yourself.
It doesn't matter what you decide, though; whether you're gay-friendly or a homophobe, the topic will always be controversial. With that warning in mind, feel free to take a stand for what you think and stick with it. ^_^

No, I disagree completely! Homosexuals are BORN, not MADE. There is no "cure" for it. Gays and Lesbians are simply born this way. If you talk to one they will most likely tell you they have been attracted to the same sex since ever they can remember. And no, I don't think it's a disease. It is simply the way they were made. Since that's the case, I think they should be left alone to live their life like any person has the right to do.

No, there is no scientific evidence to conclude homosexuality is a "defect" or even a disease. Some religious fanatics interpret parts of their respective bible/prayer books which are also written interpretations of events that happened thousands of years ago that says homosexuality is a sin. Or something bad depending on the religion.
Whatever makes one have intimate, sexual and functional relationship than ll the power to them whether they are homosexual, aliens, red necks or otherwise.

Everyone is homosexual to some degree. It is perfectly normal.

You see homosexuality in nature all of the time. It is normal to be physically attracted to the opposite sex. And it is normal for our bodies to respond to touch the same way, no matter the gender of the person that is touching us.

Many times I have seen animals acting out sexual behavior with other animals of the same gender.

Socially, homosexual is not acceptable, at least to the majority. Many religions preach against it.

The best way to breed more workers, contributers, or members is with hetrosexual relationships.

You know if you are sick or not.

Let's get out of the dark ages, and start to know who we really are and love ourselves.

No I do not agree with that. Personally I believe that there is a genetic predisposition to homosexuality. It could also be from too much estrogen for a man or too much of the male hormone in a woman.
Please remember that other animals do exhibit the same behavior as well as mammals. Humans are not the only ones who represent this behavior.
