A police officer was fatally shot and run over by a man who had assaulted him four years earlier, authorities said Saturday. The shooter, a cousin of ski champion Bode Miller, was then killed by a passer-by who grabbed the officer's gun.

Attorney General Kelly Ayotte said Liko Kenney, 24, shot Cpl. Bruce McKay four times, then ran over him with his car after a traffic stop Friday evening.

Gregory Floyd, who was driving by with his son, grabbed McKay's gun, then shot Kenney when he refused to put his gun down, Ayotte said.

What the ****, he didn't do anything to deserve it. The suspects family says the officer had been "harassing" him for years. Basically it was a very small town department with just a couple officers and this suspect was a local troublemaker who had continous run-ins with the law and therefore with this officer in particular. Certainly the suspect may have had his own side to the story but nothing that would justify shooting him, basically he felt he was being picked on by the officer. When I worked for a small town department 3/4 of the repeat offenders always complained that the officers were harassing them. When there are only a few hundred people in your town you end up dealing with the same people over and over again. This particular incident started as a traffic stop for speeding then there was a short car chase, the officer maced the suspect in an attempt to subdue him, he turned around to return to his cruiser (I presume to radio for assistance) and the suspect shot him. He did not DESERVE this.

State AG's office has already said the citizen shooting the suspect was justified, I believe the incident was capured by the dash cam.

I unlike a few other posters read the article you linked....I'm sorry to hear that anyone lost their lives Justified or not I would feel awful if i killed the shooter...but more importantly than the life of one is the lives of many. Atleast the officer wasnt done the even greater injustice of his killer getting away wiht it...
