I am Wiccan.
Let me tell you, Christians, we are NOT evil, we do NOT hate God, and we do NOT worship Satan, or anything like that.
I mean, some of us Wiccans are not very nice, but that depends on the person. I know some pretty horrible Christians, too.
Is the reason most of you dislike us is because we are just not Christian?

(Some Wiccans do call themselves Witches, including myself, and I do not follow Satan. I thought I should get that into your head
I happen to hate Satan.)

"You do serve Satan...its one Master or the other, Jesus."
How can you be so close-minded?
I JUST said! I do NOT serve Satan!
I understand and respect your religion and veiws, but can't you believe me on this?
I have my own religion, and it does not involve serving ANYBODY.
I hope you'll come to respect other religions the way I respect yours.

Searcher, some of my religion do practice the dark arts, but that is because of that person, not the religion they are associated with.
I, personally, do not like to think that I have any powers.
As one of the answerers said, we mainly worship nature and such. If we do claim to have powers, I don't think that most would use it for evil and stuff.

I don't. I believe to each their own. Christianity works for me and I am perfectly fine that it does not work for everyone. If Wicca works for you, more power to ya, babe!
I used to be a fundamentalist Christian. It is their belief that anyone who does not worship Christ (in many cases, if anyone who does not worship Christ the same way they do) then they are really worshiping Satan.
You will come across many Christians with this closed kind of thinking, and I'm sorry that I used to enforce such behavior, but the best you can do is hold your head up and be proud that you found the right path for yourself.

One seriously has to be living under a rock to think that Wiccans are devil worshippers. Only one religion worships the devil, and that would be Satanism. And even they claim that they do not believe in an actual Satan, just the idea.
But only a couple weeks ago over Beltane two Wiccans in India were executed for practising their religion.
Many innocent people, some Christian, some who were not, have suffered and were executed in the witch hunts and trials fuelled by fear, hate, and politics.
No one is immune, and we are all accountable for our own individual actions. The termination of an innocent life is a crime---no matter what the religion.

Satan is not real. It's Man's way of scaring you into buying yourself into heaven. It doesn't matter what you do in life, you will still go to heaven. Hell is not real. There is nothing below us. Earth is hell, believe it or not. There are no such things as demons either. People do not get posses sed. If Satan was real, why would he care about possessing us. He would possess the pope or someone in power. Just remember, the mind is powerful and can trick you by making you think you are possessed, but you aren't. Ever noticed that the really really religious people seem to get possessed?

Christians sadly are blinded to their true power. They have been taught not to seek it for centuries. Wiccans however have found their true power, and use it therefore the christians look on us as an evil force because they have been taught to forget their power to worship a deity who jealously with holds that power, and make them weak as sheep. The church takes their tythes and keeps People placated with dreams what ever they need at the time.
all the while it is those who truly have power like the Wicca the church hates. Those who refuse to give up their power to anyone. and use it to make their lives better.

I like Wiccans. In fact a few years ago I had a good friend who was a Wiccan. I imagine she still is, but I've not seen her for a while. I think whether or not someone likes or dislikes someone or something depends upon each individual.

I'm sure that I will get thumbs down for this, but let me share what I've seen and perhaps you will then understand why I don't like the religion. I have no problem with you and I actually like many people of various religions. I even have sat down and played cards with a witch before and ate with her, so I promise that if you were to ever meet me, I won't be unkind to you. But your religion is something I can't accept for many reasons.
What concerns me deeply is the source of your powers. Where do you think those powers come from? In our religion the reason that God specifically states to stay away from witchcraft is its deceptive nature. Satan can disguise himself into a father of light. He looks kind, but he deals in deception. The angels that fell with him are the same way. Some are quite evil, while others are seemingly nice. From what I've seen of EVERY person I know that is involved in the wiccan faith is how it affects them as they continue in this practice. I've seen many of them age quickly, and the use of this power takes a toll on their bodies. Many of them have to continually fend off evil spirits in their homes. Dabbling in the spirit world also creates problems for their families as well (based on what I've heard relating to specific families I know). I know of people who have bought homes that were lived in by people that practiced the magickal arts and these people have experienced problems in those homes, from unique forces in those homes.
In one case I know, I know of a red witch who used her magick to turn a married man away from his wife and get him to marry her instead. Now, perhaps I've only seen isolated cases, but these are the factors as I've seen it.
So, I don't dislike the people, but I don't care for the religion.
While I may get thumbs down for this answer, when you practice the magical arts, don't you have you to ward off evil spirits? Or am I just being ignorant, here? If I am, please correct me.

They don't like what they don't understand. Fundamentalists don't like us because if we exist and truly can access supernatural powers then they are afraid.
We confirm for them that there really is more out there than what can be seen with human eyes.
As one who has ties on both sides it all comes down to they don't get it, don't take the time to find out what a wiccan really is.

I do not dislike you, but I do dislike your religion. What I know of wiccan they do serve other gods. That is a sin in my faith. Could I be your friend sure but I never could accept your beliefs. And one day you or I would die and we would never see each other again. That would sadden me greatly.

I know not all Wiccans are evil. I disagree with Wicca, but then again Christianity disagrees with itself. Hating Wiccans is something that has continued on from medieval times.
But then again check this out...
