I woke up the other day with my ear bothering me. I tried to clean it, but it only made it worst. I went to the drug store for a cleaning aid, wich also didn't help. The farmacist told me to see a doctor, cause he thought I had an ear infection. I didn't go to a doctor , but I started to take amoxil as usually is prescribed, plus I've been using a ear drop to help with the wax . I don't feel pain, or anything else, but my ear is totally blockled, and I'm feeling a considerable loss of hearing. It's been 4 days, I am not feeling any better. Is that normal?

stop using the ear drops and see your doc. it may be that your ear is clogged and need to be cleaned out or you may have an ear infection. either way, you shouldn't deal with this yourself. you could cause more problems leading to hearing loss.

You say your ear was "bothering" you. Was it simply reduced hearing or a feeling of fullness? Wax buildup can certainly reduce your hearing especially if the wax plug becomes lodged against your eardrum. Cerumenex is a product that is supposed to help with wax buildup but I have seen some wicked reactions to it and would not personally use it. Consult your Dr. to ensure it is not an infection. If it is a wax plug the doc can gently flush it out or use a loop to remove the plug. LOL.

I have had an ear infection since last friday and have been on an antibiotic since then too. I can't hear anything and it drives me nuts! i feel like there is a cup over my ear. The dr said to wait til i finish my antibiotic til my ear will get back to normal. So, its been 6 days now, and I have only 4 more days to go on medication. I guess its normal.

This sounds suspicious for cerumen impaction (wax buildup in your ear). I would definitely recommend going to the doctor to have this checked out. He/she will very quickly be able to tell you if your problem is due to an infection, eardrum rupture, congestion behind the ear drum, or something worse (very doubtful). If the ear canal is totally blocked with thick, hard cerumen (wax) it will cause hearing loss. Until the ear is cleaned out by a doctor your hearing loss will persist.
