I actually heard this at work today. Are they crazy?

They may be practical but, they miss the point of the day, in my opinion. Mother's Day is about showing your mum the importance of her presence in your life. And what helps you convey best this sweet message is some beautiful flowers and a card telling her how much she means to you. Bottom line, power tools do NOT fit very harmoniously into the picture.

Power tools are a great gift. I used manual hedge clippers and a push lawn mower for so long and then one day, my husband gave me electric hedge clippers and a lawn mower with a transmission. Now I get the job done in no time. One thing though, I wish he'd learn how to pitch a tent and get me a box of bon bons. I need to relax. I'm getting tired of lugging the ladder out of the basement to clean the gutters, trim the trees and paint the house and storage shed. Hey, there seems to be something wrong with this picture.

Some women enjoy doing projects around the house and yard. Women are going in more and more for employment in carpentry and other trades. A new power drill or saw for instance might be more exciting for her than a bottle of fabulous perfume. BUT, if the woman is not the one who will be using the tools, the husband will, then I think it sucks and
she should take it back and exchange it for something she would like to have.

Maybe his wife is the kind of woman who is okay with getting power tools for mothers day. I am not one of those women.

If Mom wanted the power tools, I'd call him SMART.
If he is buying them for the household and giving them to her as a present, smart.
If he is buying them for himself, and giving them to her, not smart.
By the way, honey, I used the chain saw today to get rid of that ugly Yucca plant, and now the chain is full of shredded Yucca. Buy me a new bigger one, dear. Lowe's is open on Sunday.

I would loooooove it! But I don't think M's Day is the day to give it. Even if it is her hobby...which I have many.

But, now that I think back.......I did get my mother a jig saw for her woodworking....and she was thrilled. It all depends on the individual. We had a lot of independent, no-role, strong women in our family....so it really isn't that crazy anymore.

Oh, my gosh! I would love to get any kind of power tools for mothers day! I love to fix things and do things myself, that would be great!

Either that man knows what his wife wants, or he had better head for the hills.
Some women do like power tools, others don't.
The key is knowing the difference.

I would say nothing!! Unless the tools made her feel loved, it would be a bad present. To me, that says if something breaks don't call me, fix it yourself!!
