I am writing a novel and need to know what those things are called. (My character just passed out and the ambulence needs to use those shocker things and it would sound really lame if I called them the "shocker things")

It's called cardiac defibrillator .Your story will certainly sound lame if you immediately mention the use of a cardiac defibrillator in an ambulance just for "passing out."
Cardiac arrest can be due to heart attacks, trauma or drug overdose.or OD. So it's important to determine the appropriate cause that warrants certain medical life-saving measures.

In addition to the basic-level skills CPR, first aid, airway management, oxygen administration, spinal immobilization, traction splinting, bleeding control and splinting, as well as the intermediate skills of IV therapy, endotracheal intubation and initial cardiac drug therapy, the paramedic is also educated in EKG interpretation, advanced respiratory support and airway skills including RSI, pharmacology, trauma resuscitation, pediatric life support and advanced cardiac life support.or ACLS in which more complex drugs are utilized.

Usually, the definitive care for cardiac arrest is CPR; cardio-pulmonary resuscitation which involve cardiac massage and airway management. BLS; basic life support training. can be done by lay people. in the field. Cardiac defibrillation is usually done in a hospital setting.

As a critical care nurse working in ICU; I have successfully defibrillated a lot of pts in a code or emergency situation where sudden cardiac death is imminent. To date, paramedics working in ambulances are not certifiably or professionally or adequately trained to use these cardiac defibrillators. .

I agree with it sounding lame for the "Shocking things" because it would make the reader think: "This person needs to upgrade." And also. I am writing a book too. See, the character just went into Tachycardia. This means that the hate rate became to fast, and when your heart works, it fills up your heart and pushes blood through your body. When your heart rate becomes faster then it should, that means that the heart can only push a little amount of blood to your brain. when this happens, it is most likely that you can become unconscious If this happens, you have the risk of having a heart attack. If you do, then you can use a defibrillator to shock your heart back to a regular pace. Also, Bradycardia means that the heart becomes to slow. So in your story, you'll need a better reason to use an defibrillator. Hope this helped! Good luck on your book!
