Hi there!

Can a boy have a dora the Explorer blanket? My 4 month old son is teething and Wal-mart has the blanket that has teething corners on it. It has Dora The Explorer on it. And before I buy it I want to know that it is OK for a boy to have this. I will not allow my boys to have anything girly at all. I have seen the show and like it. But, as far as the products out is it manly for girls or is it fine for a boy to have it.
Thanks,
Jennifer

It can be both! Don't worry, he's only 4 months. He doesn't understand anything. My dad wore tons and I mean TONS of pink when he was little. He came out straight.

I personally am sick of Dora, however what does it matter if a boy has pink sheets or has something Dora. A boy can even have a doll and be fine. After all it will teach him how to be a daddy someday. Of course, if he wants dolls and girls dress up clothing w/o playing with anything else it might be a problem unless he only has girls or sisters to play with. I would then introduce boy stuff too. At 4 mos old I don't think Dora will harm him for life. My son used pink sheets when he was really little cause they were left over from his sister. Who cares??

I think it would be fine if your son has the blanket because one of the characters on it is a boy and is very cute and Dora has a cousin who's a boy and the show is int really girlish because its about learning Spanish and so i think it would go both ways for girls and boys

A blanket is fine and boys enjoy Dora. My son watches her adn she has her boy cousin Diego on a lot. Try Target or Babies R US for other blakets. My 10 month old prefered one of those blankets with a stuffed animal's head and the corners tied in knots. It was fuzzy on one side and satiny on the other. He could chew the nots and enjoy the textures of the blanket.

Well both girls and boys watch the show so yes that party idea is good. Toddlers don't think about what's for boys or girls, if he likes it then there is no problem.

It's the adults who categorize for example I only see Dora the explorer clothes for girls =/

why would you try to make anything a boy or girl thing? give your child the choice to like what makes them happy! have you ever watched dora the explorer? it happens to be a girl that takes adventrures and teaches kids the process of finding answers to problems. at no point does dora ever talk only to girls or only to boys.

Why should this be a problem? He is a 4 month old baby he not going to know or care who photo is no the thing that keeps him warm and makes him feel save. I would stop warring about thing such as this and just focus on you little boy growing up. All that needs to be said

(yes both can)

Why will you not let your boys to have anything girly? Let me bet, your one of those parents that are going to tell your son
" Don't cry, your a boy, its girly"
Is it okay for little girls to play with trucks?
Hate to break it to you, Dora is kinda girly. That's why they have Diego.
Then again, bears are kinda girly but my 5 year old son, still sleeps with one.

I agree with everyone else, Gender roles are so 20th century. What are you going to do if your son wants to go into drama club or ballet? Tell him only sissys do that stuff so he can grow up to be a bully and a jock and make fun of boys in band or other "girly" clubs?

No wonder there is still so much prejudice in the world with mothers like you.

Unhappy mothers day!

My son LOVED Dora the Explorer! I'd say the show is unisex.
