My mom says I'd be to young to sing about boys, but I don't want to be a cheesy singer who only appels to girls 2-5 years old. I want to be a singer for everyone!!! I really don't want to sing gospel (but I am a christian).

Trust me, it would be cheesy to sing about boys, too. Anyway, even child singers use songs that were written by adults.

It's always cool to hear a singer sing about something that fits them and is about them. I don't even like hearing really young teenage girls sing about being in love and whatnot b/c it's nearly laughable b/c they're still little (also I can't hardly believe what girls are doing and how they're dressing at age 13! A little piece of advice is you only get ONE reputation. Keep your good name). I'd have to agree with your mom that 10 is a little young to sing about boys. What about something going on at school though? Something that fits you. Have you ever heard of Taylor Swift? I've been listening to some of her music. I've heard she's only in high school and if she'd of been around back when I was going to school I'd probably have been into her music back then (now I'm a little old haha). Anyway... friendship is always good. What kind of things do you go through that you feel alone in? Guaranteed there are other girls your age out there who feel alone and everyone likes music to speak to their hearts. You could probably sing a little bit about boys... like maybe having a crush or something... but don't go all Brittney Spears (haha) Take care and good luck at following your dreams. At the bottom is a link for some of Taylor Swifts lyrics.

sing about anything that comes into your mind. when your bff and you get into a fight over nothing, the awful school lunches, moving on into different classes, the division on the playground, falling off the slide, how its not hard to make up a song.

write about anything you like; even hate!
Best of Luck

Don't write about boys... It will turn out cheesy.
So really you want to write poems/songs....
Start reading lots of poetry.....
start listening to different music for inspiration.
And learn some music theory.

Actually here is something that I wrote about a month ago

Time
Is against me
To a certain
Degree
Hands
Attempt to push
Me off to unknown,
Lands
Yet I fight it
To enjoy, right now

(this is a poem, usually I do songs)

Ok so lets say you come home from a terrible day at a school... you get out a piece of paper, a pen, and write it down. Just write what your naturally feeling and then see if it fits into a song well.

Write about what you know. At 10 years old you are thinking about boys and I think there is nothing wrong with you writing about a cute boy that you have a crush on. Or you can write about friends or family and make it edgy.

Sing about what happens to you and what interests you. You can also write about how you feel about a particular topic or how you feel, period. It will come to you when you least expect it. Good Luck!
