Well... God is a man, if christians can say when arguing that humans are superior that we are made in gods image, we are godlike, i can say to a woman, "Hey, i'm better than you, i am a MAN and so is god, i am more godlike than you", does that make me superior? NO! Yes we are like god, ok, i'm more like god than a woman, does that make me superior? Jesus was a man, the apostles were men, the deciples were. I am no sexist but honestly. I bet many people do go around saying "i'm a man and so is god so im better than women" christians seem to say that when putting down animals, "we are more godlike so we are superior".

God is not specified as any particular gender...we refer to him typically as male in society just because Jesus was a man.

God embodies both genders...he is both male and female.

Jesus was a man.

But the fact that he was a man pales in comparison to the fact that he was God. That...no man or woman can claim to be. So the Christian male superiority complex is an unfounded ego trip.

There is a difference in rank but not in worth. Both are made in the image of God. For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. (Galatians 6:3)

In Ge 2:24, we also read that they are one flesh in marriage and that his body belongs to her and her body belongs to him.

In Mal 2:14 she is called his companion, and the wife of thy covenant. She is a companion, not a door mat! Not a slave!

If a crime is committed the punishment was the same whether the crime was against a man or women. This points to the fact that the worth was the same, whether man or women.

In Mr 12:43 we read of a women, that glorified God more then all the men with their mighty wealth. Showing that God does not look at your gender when it comes to good works.

It's imporant for women to learn and study the Bible (John 4:14ff, Luke 10:40-42)

The man is to love His wife, like Christ loves the church, and how to loves himself (Eph 5:33).

In no way does God say that men are superior to women. God's image has nothing to do with the shape of your face and the size of your di**. It has to do with the fact that you, above animals, have a soul. So do women.

Women are indeed the "weaker" sex, but the meaning for weaker in this instance is not inferior, but like in fine china to everyday dishes. True, fine china is weaker than everyday dishes, but it is infinately more valuable :)

Jesus tried to change some of the negative aspect toward women, but men are so thick it is hard to get through to them. If mankind is created in the image and likeness of God, and HE created male and female in HIS image, then some part of God is also a feminine nature. The risen Christ showed Himself first to a woman. His early disciples included women, Martha and Mary for example. Women were important in the formation of the early church. Yes, there are many men that feel they are superior to women. But men are usually fearful. What can I tell you?

The Bible and Christianity have been misused and misinterpreted in many ways to subjugate and negate the importance and rights of women for centuries, but so has almost every other major religion and sacred books.

It is people who do this not the books or the true meanings of the writings.

What? Women have the characteristics of the Holy Spirit( the comforter). That makes them in the image of God too.

I am a Christian woman, and my religion honors women. When you get the time go to the Bible and read it and look for how much God honors women :)
