I have now lost 92lbs but over 3 years. However, I have done it the best way because I haven't got the horrible saggy overhang you see on people who lose weight too fast. I wont need a tummy tuck to get rid of the excess because there isn't any. It's been very hard but worthwhile as I am hoping to go on the list for 2 new hips and a new knee! The best advice I can give is throw away your large plates. My meals are served on saucers these days and any more than that and I feel as if I am being greedy. Put your knife and fork down between mouthfuls and chew 50 times. Don't restrict what you eat too much because you will start to crave and then binge! Change to low cal drinks, low fat food, if you can exercise so much the better because you will lose faster than I did. Hope that helps and I am here if you need some more encouragement/advice. Good luck. x

Drink a LOT of water(maybe more than 11 cups a day, also before a mealtime and you won't feel as hungry) Eat your favorite fruits and veggies and stay away from meats(if you need protein eat nuts) Do not eat any chips or drink soda and if you don't feel like exercising than just walk around for a half and hour or so. When your doing something(if possible) stand and not sit(it takes up more energy). Try to move around as much as possible.
As for how long, I think maybe a year or a year and a half. It may seem like a long time but If you put your mind to it I'm sure that the 40 pounds will just slip off and you wont even notice!!!! Also I would suggest that you not go on starvation diets, they don't help(at all). GOOD LUCK!

I've lost 40 pounds since January, which is a lot in a short amount of time, but I did it the healthy way, which is the only way to do it. I exercise six days a week .. running and biking mostly, about 45 minutes at a time .. and I also do a little strength training with hand weights and a rowing machine, two or three times a week. As for diet, I've cut back a bit on calories. I consume between 1500 and 1700 calories a day, and the food I eat is very healthy. Fat-free yogurt, skim milk, strawberries, apples, raspberries, oranges, broccoli, spinach, carrots, pea pods, lean deli turkey, wheat bread, low-fat cheese, squash, pineapple, veggie burgers, tomatoes, cottage cheese, granola, nuts .. these are all very nutritious foods that will keep you satisfied and help you lose weight. Watch your portions, and don't be afraid to indulge in something you really love every once in a while. I've eaten healthy all week, so tonight I treated myself to a cup of chocolate ice cream! I also recommend sorbet if you've got a sweet tooth .. it's delicious and very low in calories! Good luck, and treat your body right!

it really depends on how big you are. if you just want to lose 40 pounds and your not big or above average for your height then you will not lose it. but if you are really 40 pounds overweight i thin k that weight watchers is the way to go. you still can eat the things you want but you learn about portion control. i have done it for 3 months and only lost 10 pounds but my weight is where it should be for my height so right now i just maintain. work out if you can and drink water. when on weight watchers if you work out you get extra points in your day so its a little extra treat, the lady i work with lost 25 pounds in 3 months because she is a bigger so it comes off faster but i think its great and cheap. 12 if your a student and 14 if your not. good luck to you.

I did not have to loose 40 pound, but I lost 20 pound eating low fat and low calorie food. I changed from white to brown bread, made vegetable soups, ate a lot of salads. I stuck to mainly Fish or Chicken dishes and I ate rice rather than potatoes. I also had fruit and non milk fat ice cream and the odd jaffa cake. The only crisps I ate were Watsits and the only chocolate was the odd curly wurly, or a small milky way. The weight soon came down. Also you should take some exercise like swimming or walking. I didn't, as I have other illnesses.

Change the way you eat. Eat more whole grains and vegetables, lean meats and avoid sugars and refined starches. Don't deny yourself those foods you crave, but reduce them to tiny portions. Eat an occasional 1 inch square of chocolate cake so you won't go mad and eat the whole cake. Watch how much you eat of which foods and use high volume low calorie foods to make you feel full.
Do moderate to vigorous exercise daily, walk a mile fast, do calesthenics, dance, do whatever you are capable of until you are tired and stop. Next day do it one minute longer until you can exercise for 20 min easily. Keep doing that.
Always check with a nutritionist or doctor while dieting to be sure you stay healthy. Once you have achieved your weight loss, which should be about a pound a week, do not go back to your old ways of eating or sitting around. Your menu of foods should have changed permanently. Allow yourself those occasional treats, in limited servings, as long as you maintain your weight. You can even cut back the amount of time exercising as long as you maintain your weight.
By changing your lifestyle you will not be locked into a constant diet/exercise program which your mind will reject. You will be eating foods you like that are not fattening and walking and dancing are more like fun than exercises.
Good health to you.

You have a number of options.
1. You could try a supervised weight loss program, such as Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, or LA Weightloss. Weight Watchers has an online option, so you don't have to go to meetings if you don't want to.
2. Consult a nutritionist. They can help you make a good plan, suited to your specific needs.
3. Try going it alone. Eat balanced meals (protein, veggies, and some sort of grain). Watch your portion sizes, make sure you are only eating one serving. It helps to measure and weigh your food. You can find the serving size info on the nutrition panel of most food packages. Exercise every day, even if it's just a 15 minute walk.
Hope this helps!

Hi,
I was nearly 15 stone , I ate junk food, I couldn't look at myself in the mirror, so I went to weight watchers to get help and support, the first week I lost 3 pounds, each week after that I lost weight, you can do it, by cutting out, sausages, burgers,
chocolate, sweets ,fish+chips, biscuits, crisps, cola, take-aways,cakes, pies, deep fried chicken, pizza, sandwiches, cheese on toast, ready meals, No alcohol, there are lots more the list is too long list ,you can do it,cut out these foods,
Start by cooking plain food for dinners, chicken/meat/fish and vegetables,
for breakfast,cereal / boiled egg / yogurts/ apple/ pear/ banana/ tea/coffee no sugar, weigh milk,
for lunch , small portion pasta with pesto sauce / salads / jacket potato medium, just a few things you can eat,
At weight Watchers you get books and menus, I eat three meals a day, I'm never hungry, I find weight watchers suits me, I now weight 9 stone12, my aim is 8 stone 7, that's what I should be for my height and body frame,
Be careful with sauces, gravy, and you need to drink 2 litres of water a day,if you still feel hungry you are not eating enough, eat more fruit, raw carrots, and cook more vegetables for your dinner (not potatoes )
Try weight watchers,Remember you want to lose 40 pounds it's hard to do it on your own,
Lots of Luck

i've got struggled with my weight my total existence, and regardless of the indisputable fact that i've got on no account tried JC, I had stable fulfillment on the Atkins weight loss application, dropping 30 pounds in some month and a a million/2. the subject is that, like numerous weight loss application, it is not some thing you may in basic terms halfway. you're able to cut back your carb intake right down to not something for the 1st couple weeks and heavily limit it in a while. in my view, I had the main suitable fulfillment in basic terms by way of reducing out on processed meals and switching to organic stuff. Fruit and nuts rather of candy and chips. in the journey that your element is soda and capability beverages, try determining to purchase guy or woman packs of water flavoring. a 10 p.c.. will fill 10 20oz water bottles with a ton of 0 calorie style for greater or less 3$. you may constantly discover an determination to processed and preserved nutrition in the journey that your keen to place a sprint attempt into it.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)
i lost about 40lbs
