Does a melody ring in your heart? I sang I'm Trading My Sorrows with a friend on Thursday and now it's ringing in my heart and my head? Do you have a constant melody? Or does it change?

rdleens I love it is well with my soul. Horacio Spafford is the one that wrote it...It was at the time of the great Chicago Fire and his house burned down so he sent his wife and daughters back to England....his three daughters drowned when their ship sank....His wife sent him a message from England....Saved alone. He took the first ship back to England and over the place where his daughters died he wrote that beautiful song. My mother usually tells the story before she sings it. And the other story you told is amazing too. (an angel mabe?) (some have entertained angels unaware)

Funnana....I don't sing very well either...I think God sees our hearts and that's more important to Him than the sounds. And in Zephaniah 3:17, we are told He sings over us...If He's singing over me, what difference does it make what I sound like?
LadyEagle, I am so blessed the Lord has given me someone to sing with that likes my voice...and his is deep enough I can harmonize with him and sort of even carry the tune with a little help.

Robert P.....Rise Again is a favorite too....Every time I go to see Dallas Holm he sings it. Once he said that he tried to leave it out of the program and afterwards 2 little old ladies told him they had come to hear that so he always does it now.

I was in a bar one time listening to Karaoke when a man walked in and asked to sing. He asked for anyone who knew the song in the bar to sing with him. He sang beautifully, Amazing Grace and every drunk partying person in there joined in...it sounded as though the angels had joined in as well.That song has been in my mind ever since. The man walked out and we never saw him again. Another good one is, It is well with my soul. The man's children had died in a storm at sea and when he went to the place where his children died it was calm and he wrote the words, even so it is well with my soul.

Thank you for this post Jan very uplifting I sing lots of songs and my favorite hymn is Be not afraid and I also like Turn your eyes upon Jesus and I love to sing songs to God all day long. Honey you need time to get over your loss. and yes I know the song well. You need to pray to the Lord to give you inner piece. He will. I went through a tough time in my life and the only thing that got me through was the Lord. There is another song you might like, its Have you ever been lonely. It is another hymn That I ran across. Hope you will feel inner piece soon. I will keep you in my prayers. God Be with you always.

Jan ,I love music.I wish I could sing.But when I am alone with God I sing my heart out.I love the old hymns.The song THE LION AND THE LAMB. Will not leave my heart.But at night when my grand children stay with me.In my raspy ,off key voice they ask me to sing them to sleep.It is time for the old time religion to break out.They sing Shall we gather at the river,I've got a mansion,In the garden,The Blood and more of the old blessed gospel songs.<><

Sometimes. Once I was gardening and I kept singing the same hymn over and over again. I couldn't stop no matter how hard I tried. Hope it was pleasing in God's ear.

I get songs stuck in my head all the time...sometimes they stick because of something that happened to me. Like....well this is sad, but when I broke up with my first boyfriend I had songs like "I will remember you...will you remember me" and "I've seen fire and I've seen rain...I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end....I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend....But I always thought that I'd see you again......" to name a few...it was horrible!!!! ERG.
Now to more cheerier ones lol. Hmmmm I got a song by Michael Card called "The Basin and the Towel" stuck in my head at Passover which was appropriate. I think sometimes God puts songs in our heads because He is trying to tell us something through them. Listen to the words....you know that is one reason why it is good to have good songs to listen to and get to know, because you don't want to have all that bad junk floating around and getting stuck in your head and giving you unwanted thoughts!! anway I get songs stuck in my head all the time lol. Sometimes it gets really annoying and it's meaningless and erg erg!! IT won't leave and it's annoying!!

I often sing a lot of the old gospel hymns. I love the contemporary music too, but the classic old spiritual songs are dear to my heart.I often sing those songs to my boys as they fall asleep at night! My oldest son loves ,"The old rugged cross" .

"Great is thy Faithfulness" comes to mind just now. But as I go about my rounds at Cherry at Night, I often have a song that The Holy Spirit will touch my Heart with.
