Your dogs ears will smell if he or she has mites. Their will be dried brown stuff in the ear canal that's mostly dried blood.. The ears will be red most of the time. The ears will Itch & the dog will also shake his or her head. It almost sounds like your dog has an yeast infection in there. Don't LOL , dogs do get yeast infections in their ears. What ever it is, take you dog to the vet & fined out what's wrong for sure, so you can treat it.. If you leave it to long the dog can & will go deaf. Not only that it hurts like H! Because of all the diging the dog does in the ear, it gets sore . Just like your's would :(
I hope this helped you :)
Good luck

i know this sounds bad but you need to smell your dogs ears because ear mites smell as well as ear infections but ear mites are black and your dog will probably shake its head because they tickle all the time the easiest way of getting rid of them is using stronghold this you can get from the vets it also treats fleas, worms, heart worms and mange i have been using it for 4 years now and my dogs are very healthy before using stronghold i had to try and put ear drops in and i might add my dogs didn't like it at all with stronghold you just squirt it on the back of the dogs neck once every 4wks and it takes care of all the things i have listed but don't take my word for it ask your vet and they will say the same i wouldn't use anything else

Ear mites look like specks of dirt in the ear, and the dog will scratch at them. There's an ointment that you can get from the vet that you rub onto the insides of the ear. This will kill the mites, and the dog loves the soothing massage on its ears.

That isn't ear mites...see your Vet! It may be an infection or allergy related.

The same thing happened to my dog and when I took him to the vet, she said he had a yeast infection. I think they are common in dogs with floppy ears. The vet had to sedate my dog and clean all the crud from his ears then I had to give him antibiotics and put ointment in his ears.

Dogs don't commonly get earmites..any ear issues should be seen by your vet who will be able to diagnose the problem and give proper treatment.
