I think that attitude will not allow you to become a Chicago Police Officer. You are to serve and protect the public. A police officer should never abuse the public trust.

It seems that you have this fantasy of what being a mandated officer is. long hours, little pay, and the pleasure of going to court on your day off. not to mention the 10% of the public that thinks you owe them something. If you stroll into this line of work with an Audie Murphy complex, then one of four things will happen. You will get hurt. You will get a co worker hurt. You will get an innocent citizen hurt. You will wind up in prison for code of conduct and oath violations. I strongly recommend that you contact a preacher, a trusted friend or counselor before proceeding. Also....Schedule a citizen ride along with a local agency so you can see firsthand what a cops night is typically like. Good luck to you

Mercifully, all police departments today perform psychological screening. If the government does not stop you from having a badge and a gun, the government will be liable to the people you harm. Wherefore, therefore, lunatics like you don't get the power.

I hope you mean the power to spend a lot of late nights writing reports about people who just like to complain about stupid stuff like barking dogs and loud music; because that;s what the police do 95% of the time.

If that is really your reason for becoming an officer... I think you should stop now, you won't get passed by all the pre-hire requirements, and on the slim chance you do.... the academy will break you.
