So I'm 5'9 and I'm seeing a guy who is a little over 5'4. He is really great, but we get a lot of laughs for the height difference. Should I keep dating him and put up with the jokes from my friends and family or just be friends?

Don't listen to them! Go with the short guy. I loved taller men than myself (5'11") for years and then this 5'2" guy walked into my life and we had the best five years of my life (he died in a car accident in 2001). People called us Boris and Natsha, Tatoo and Mrs Rourke and Dorothy and the Mayor of Munchkin Village but we didn't care. I miss him terribly even after all this time. Date him, love him, and don't worry about having dumpy kids (what nonsense!) and let the others have their laughs. You will have love.

It is up to you and your friends and family should not matter. There are perks to his height, you probably can get the "child" price at the movies, in case of emergency you both can be the first ones off the boat with the old Women and children first rule. Of course there are downsides, he has to make the height requirement to go on certain rides, tougher to get him into the "R" rated movies and it might get annoying when old ladies tell you that your "son" is cute. Just by some shoe lifts for him and keep a step stool around and everything should work out...

Wow thats a big height difference. Ok I'm going to be honest here. I'm 5'4 and my ex hub is 5.5. I HATED the fact that he was smaller (when i wore heels) especially when the wedding photographer stuck him on a step for our wedding photo's.
I found other things about him attractive which made up for it for a while, but I always was concious of it. He turned out to be a complete git. Nicole Kidman hit the nail on the head when she said when she and Tom split "Its great I can wear heels again!"
I never wore heels over 1 inch! and when we slow danced I took my shoes off.
My partner of 6 years is 6ft and I love it. It makes me feel tiny and femine. Plus he's just a fantastic bloke!
At the end of the day its like saying should you date a fat person, a skinny person a person with 2 heads and 4 legs. What turns you on? What is important to you? I was never bothered about what people said, I think its personal preferance. What turns you on. I'd rather date a small funny guy than a tall nasty nob.

First of all tell your family and friends that you don't appreciate their teasing and you don't think it's funny. When they see how serious you are they more then likely will stop. As for people on the streets you know where you can tell them to kiss right? You have a great guy, don't pass him up because of physical differences. The next woman who is probably gonna be taller will get him.

no he is not to short and for those who said don't have sex with him. Get real height doesn't matter in bed. Hey my BF is 5 6" and I am 5 11". if you like him then stay with him. Are you dating him or your friends and family? Don't become shallow over something like height or lack of.

It sounds like you're REALLY NOT COMFORTABLE with his height. My cousin and his fiancee have about the same height difference. Everyone else will eventually see past the difference and see his true self and what a cute couple y'all are. The height difference will only affect you minimally, truely...especially if you like to couple dance. You have one of two options, be comfortable or move on. He will not grow and you will not shrink! :)

That has nothing to do with things, in any case your the one thats too tall. If you are really basing your relationship on something like height then yeah give him a chance to be happy and break up with him.

My buddy has been dating a girl, for about 5yrs, who's about 6' or 6'1" and he's only like 5'4"
They don't really care.
Personally, I don't like dating girls taller than me. But I'm average height at 5'10"

If you really like him the height shouldn't matter. If you feel like it gets in the way of the relationship maybe you should rethink it.

you are the only one who can answer that question. is it really that important?? If your family and friends bother you, ask them to stop. Tell them it hurts you.
don't let what others think get to you so easily. What matters the most is how *you* feel.
