You should drink at least 8 (64 oz) a day. No more than about a gallon. Too much water can deplete your electrolyte levels and be deadly. When working out you should drink water AND a sports drink, like Gatorade to replenish electrolytes.

A max of at least 8 cups of water, but no more than 10 cups otherwise you would be waking up in the middle of the night going to the bathroom every couple of hours.

you can actually drown your tissues with too much water

Like most things in life, too much of a good thing is deadly.
