Gordon has run Busch. Most of the drivers that do not want to or do not run Busch feel Busch was the stepping stone to cup racing so let it be for the young upstarts.
But sponsor money being what it is and the popularity of the sport lures some of the major/top drivers to run the series.
Then others feel once in a while is fine
The Gordons or other top names that do not run the series are concentrating on cup and their cup sponsors.

It's all about time and money. Gordon evidently wants to spend more time with his family (gotta baby on the way). If he raced in both series his work load would be huge. Since the busch series has different specs than the Nextel series, he would be require to do even more testing of those cars.

Another thing to think about is the possibility of getting injured. Since the Busch series has more young, inexperienced drivers, one could argue you'd be more likely to crash running in a Busch race. The purses are a lot bigger in a Nextel race, so why risk it? Instead of winning a Million plus purse you are going to get hurt trying to win a 100 grand. Just isn't worth it.
Some of the big star of nascar don't race all Busch events. Dale Jr. only races in certain races in the Busch league

I wish other drivers would do the same thing and realize the Busch series races are for young and upcoming drivers. I believe that if you are good enough to race NASCAR you should not drive in the Busch series.
I also agree with geedog and rabies 19, they seem to know what they're talking about. Two thumbs ups!

Jeff Gordon has raced in the Busch series as recently as 2003, but he, like many other top Cup drivers feel that since Busch is a developmental series it wouldn't be right for him to take a spot in that race and deny a younger, developing driver a spot. It makes sense and I wish more Cup drivers would take the same attitude.

I think a lot of it has to be that he doesnt want to take away from the upcoming drivers in the Busch Series. Hes won championships you shouldnt be putting veterans in w/ the young beginning drivers they've got stuff to learn yet thats why theyre in the Busch Series

Jeff Gordon doesnt because I think he has this deal with Rick Hendrick or maybe not but he did race a few years ago but I think that he decided to focus more on his Cup chareer and he has done quite well and he is going to win this years championship because the drive for five is back. I think that he doesnt want to because he doestn need the practice because he has dominated at almost every track except for Texas and Homestead where he doesnt have wins at. All the other tracks on the circuit and even when they modified it and added new tracks and took away old tracks he still dominated. He does really well in inaugrual events and won a few times at the inaugrual events and at the tracks tey dont race on anymore he still drove the best out of anyone except for a few older drivers. I think that he is going to be the one who changes the sport as we know it. I mean he is already rewriting the record books and still has most of his career left. Go #24!!!!

I think the Busch is for the up and coming young drivers and the top drivers should only race in the Nextel races. It's like the minor league in baseball and Nextel is the Major league

Congrats Jeff Gordon and Kyle Busch followers!! i'm happy Jeff won it, he deserved it. To be common with you, i does no longer ideas seeing Jeff Gordon in victory lane, and thats defiantly a danger, yet it quite is Daytona, and something can and could take place.
