my cat goes into my purse and gets my chewing gum. can gum hurt her?

The main problem is they could choke on it.
Try to keep it away from the cat. If you've got a zip pocket in the purse or a change purse - someplace that's not out in the open - put the gum in there.

Chewing gum is similar to chewing a rubber band, except for the additives. Most gum is over half sugar by weight unless sugar free. Sugar free poses a different problem, since the sweetener in it can be a laxative (humans may have to chew three packs a day to notice, but a cat is much smaller)

Other than that I would worry about choking, or otherwise getting "stuck" so I would take measures to change locations, or put it in an eyeglass case or something similar in your purse. good luck

Gum doesnt digest so if she swallows it she can have trouble passing it if its a big piece. So be sure to wathc her when she does this or zip you gum up in the inner pocket.

Gum is very hard to digest, so keep an eye on her and her poop and make sure she passes it. If not see your vet.

well have you saw problems so far? it can get stuck in fur or choke her. It can also get stuck and cause bathroom issues like in humans if swallowed. good luck. ps lock ur purse!
