What I mean by this is:
Humans naturally become tired when the sun goes down. We usually find it hard to sleep during the day. Astronauts orbiting around Earth have a difficult time getting sleep because the sun is constantly moving in and out of view.

Say, if someone worked the graveyard shift every day for a year, would he become nocturnal, or would he still have trouble sleeping during the day?

It's possible, though given the option to sleep and wake when you want your body will typically revert to it's natural cycle.

yes, it's possible for our biological clock to change.we normally sleep n rest at night but that's not the only case. at weekend, i usually starts studying at night straight until morning without even feeling sleepy although it's already past my usual bedtime. the, i'll sleep in the morning. still, the hours that i sleep remains the same with weekdays, only the time is different. despite all that changes, i'm just fine. so far, i don't have any trouble to sleep even if the time changes significantly. that usually depends on people. some suffers insomnia n i feel sorry for them. u just can't sleep when your minds is actively thinking about something. tired body and mind qill quickly get to sleep. =)

it's very possible and it does happen - there's also something called Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome or "Night Owl Syndrome" and people who suffer from it basicly have their days and nights mixed up as far as sleep goes
