Constantine was pagan BEFORE he became Christian. After his conversion to Christianity, he ordered all shrines to the pagan gods destroyed. Yes he was unbaptized until he was on his deathbed, a common practice of the time. He did not "preside" over the Council of Nicea. He recognized the need for such a Council, and brought pressure upon the Pope to convene the Council, but having no official standing in the Church, Constantine had no authority over the Council itself, and was merely an observer.

The Greek religions is what mostly engulfs Christianity. They ''took'' it from the Greeks. The church based their religion upon Greek beliefs as it made it so easy to convert the people over. They were still basically following the same religion.

Constantine embraced Christianity, not as a belief, but, he knew it was ''the way'' to get people to follow him. To him, Christianity was a political issue-------a way to conquest.
