well i have 4 yorkies and they eat well
depends what kind of food are you giving him I
give mines Purina (dog food) but what I do with some dogs is
I put the plate down on the floor and I throw a little bit of food on the floor and they will start eating I don't know why and if not i grab a little bit of food from the plate and feed them like on the mouth now what you have to see is if he eats it and opens his mouth or you have to open it. also you could try putting can food with it so the it would taste better like there some little snacks wich are similar to can food but better called Cesar they are from Winn-dixe every dog loves those try giving that to him oh and if he goes crazy for it mix it with his food and he will be back to normal.
now seriously if this doesn't work just speak with a professional
veterinarian, people who groom dogs or something because he is probably starving =[

my suggestion would be to take him into a vet to find out exactly what is going on. I wish you luck and hope that you can get an appointment either at one of the vets that your neighbors have reviewed or into a vet that you already use to make sure whatever is going on with your pet is taken care of.

hope this helps, hope he starts eating well, and hope you choose me as best answer

http://petedge.com

Don't worry too much just yet.
Don't treat your dog with human food or any other treats.
Place his food down at the usual time but only leave it down for around 10-20 mins then take the food up and don't offer it again. You can add some luke warm water if dried food.
If he has just had the snip it may be he is unwell and will be fine for a couple of days.
Leave it a few days either way your dog will be fine, if you get too worried give the vet a call.

If he's just back from the vet, he still feels a little sick from the drugs they gave him.

If he's not fine 24 hours after the surgery, call the vet.

If it's been a while since surgery, it's probably illness, BUT at this point, not life threatening. Wait 24-48 hours to see if he gets worse. Sometimes they get upset tummies, just like people do.

Things to watch for: vomiting, diarrhea, swelling of the abdomen (not the surgery site), lethargy, blood anywhere, sudden increase in water intake, sudden increase or decrease in peeing.

DON'T offer him people food. DON'T switch kibble. Both of these will teach him that all he has to do is wait and you will give him something better.

If you have been swapping his food around then thats proberly why he's not eating, dogs should be kept to one brand of food.Changing there diet results in fussy behaviour including not eating atall.Dont feel guilty and start offering him your food as this will make the problem worse, feed him a good quality dry food leave it down,if he's not interested pick it up and put it away untill his next feed, eventually he will eat there is no need to panic. If this is a sudden change in his eating habits consult your vet to make sure he's healthy.Good luck.

If he's only just over the operation, it's possible he's in a bit of discomfort. One of my previous Yorkie boys was much the same. I took him back over to the vet and he was given a pain killer; right as rain the next day!

Don't forget, Yorkies are fussy little dogs for some things and they can be prone to going off their food. A 'fail me never' trick, which our vet has always sworn by, is a little grated cheese to get the taste buds going. You will find he 'picks up' in a short while. Keep him warm and comfortable. If you are still not happy in the next 24hrs, see your vet.

Wuff to your Yorkie from my two!!!

He may be ill- has he thrown up? Is he drinking? Does he seem fine other wise? Try to feed him something else like a treat you know he likes and see if he eats it... keep watch if he doesn't eat at all you should take him to-or at least talk to- a vet.

obviously not well. Give him a day or too and if it's no better, take him to the vet.

My dog sometimes goes off his food for a day or two, dicky tummy, but gefo see a vet if there's no change

Did you change his food recently? If so, he may just not like the taste, and is on a "hunger strike" until you give him back his old food.
