Its not more than a man made choice to declare Jewish heritage only when born of a Jewish mother. The Scripture indicates just the opposite, that the male lineage is the side that carries the blood line. I believe they both are, a mother and/or father of Jewish heritage pass the blood line to their children, its a fact that was inconvenient at some time in history, but a fact none the less.

The 12 tribes moved to all parts of the earth. They inter-married and Judaism spread thru their children. There are many Russian Jews where I live, and I am amazed at how many of them have the features of the Mongoloid people. With time, the Jewish people acquire the features of where they live. You can not always say that ''someone looks Jewish''.
