We are a middle aged married couple. What can we expect?

Yes, I must concur with the other two answers. I went with my first wife (August was her birthday), and, while we had a good time, it was a little more than hot. Not unbearable, mind you, but very sticky and humid.
But keep this in mind as well-- you're going to be in the Hotel Zone (that's where you want to be, NOT DOWNTOWN--REPEAT: NOT DOWNTOWN!!!!), and the rooms are air conditioned, and the pools at each hotel are immaculate for the most part. You'll only have to worry about the heat if you're exploring. In other words, if you REALLY want to go, I wouldn't let a little heat deter you. You're probably talking about days in the high 70's to high 80s temp wise.

August is hurricane season.
Expect hot and humid at best, we know what you can expect for worse...there is a reason you got such a good deal on the price.

bad idea---good deals=bad weather; save your $ and schedule for a time Dec-April
