The idea that using a worldly thing is idolatry is man-made. In what way are you sinning if you drive a car? How are you sinning if you use a washing machine? Relax and enjoy the things God has blessed you with. There is a difference between loving and enjoying a thing. The Bible says He has given us all things to enjoy.

What is a "worldly thing"? Money? TV? The Internet? "Worldly things" are tools.
One of the Psalms says that God owns it all: the earth and everything in it, the world and everyone in it. You have a right to use a thing if you use it right.
In fact, Jesus said that if we're not good at handling worldly wealth, how could we be given true riches?
Addendum: how do you know certain activities lead you from God? What is it: movies? dancing? theater? rock and roll music? NASCAR racing? motorcycles? creating paintings? God can speak to us in many ways, and can use us in many fields.
Now if you're talking about pornography or taking harmful drugs, you already know you shouldn't do those things.
Talk about this with a mature, nonjudgmental Christian, and talk about this with God. If you want to PM me about the specifics, please do.

No. It is how you use it and how you allow it to affect your life with Christ.
I believe loving the things of the world deals with the world's philosophy from a humanistic viewpoint on everything as opposed to God's.
You know when you are making idols out of TV, food or having to have the latest of everything (clothes, cameras, etc.) This is of the world but using it does not make you unholy. Just don't make these things your god.

What are you speaking approximately?i don't comprehend approximately Muslims yet between Christians and Jews there are non secular people who attempt to devoid themselves of worldly issues - priests,nuns...while undemanding human beings do delight in worldly issues which isn't a sin as long as they don't seem to be immoral.i might quite be with Lucifer than be locked up with Muslims.

Christians are not to fear of the world, but overcome it. In this age we are not to sit on a stump and wait. If you "need" a motorcycle, go get one and ride it. Or roller skates, or paint brushes. But while you are here, love God, and not the things. This means that the love of God must be in your thought 24/7, and in this consciousness you find all you need. A displacement of the love of God is not a good thing.

Of course not. I go to the dentist, and certainly do not "love" that drill, but I live in the flesh, and we need to care for our teeth.
Idolatry is putting something of this world before your love of God. In other words, if
I have three hours of spare time to myself, and I use that time to drink beer rather than to devote any of my time to God and the study of His Word, then I obviously love that beer time more than I love God, otherwise I would have also devoted some of my time to Him.
An idol can be anything: cars, boats, money, obsession with another person, anything. But that doesn't mean that any of these things are necessarily idols - they only become an idol to you if they are more important to you than God is.

You are correct, little grasshopper. If you didn't use worldly things for practical things, you couldn't live here. Just don't let them master you.
"Everything is permissible for me, but not everything is beneficial. Everything is permissible for me, but I will not be mastered by anything." 1 Cor 6:12

the most important thing to remember is that God should be the most important part of your life. You shouldn't get to attached to anything that could make it more important than God, whether it is sports, tv, money, etc. God is number 1.
