Any information on making your own led? I don't really care if it doesn't work that well. Just that it works :)

I see 2 people don't know the difference between a Light Emitting Diode and lead. No, you can't make a diode, light emitting or otherwise at home. It requires sophisticated and expensive equipment. You CAN create the same effect by connection a small colored light in series with a regular diode.

The difficulty arises in getting the PN junction to the have correct doping concentrations (and doping them period)

You'd have to be rich. It takes sophisticated equipment and materials. You'd also have to be smart enough to use them properly.
